For all of your jazz addicts.. the Art Blakely version is nice too..
(though the vocals of endangered species makes the HIT!!)

Impossible to find also. It's actually "Endangered Music as played by the Endangered Species." That whole 12 is VERY nice. I also liked "Endangered Music II - Just A Memory". I feel people slept on this one.

For anyone who is all about the original........
Keep an eye out for an excellent jacked-up remix by Chicago's Dan X, presumably on the next Peaches EP. Zees ees the version DJ Heather has been smackin around for awhile now (check her recent Essential Mix for the BBC), I'm usually iffy on bumped-up remixes but this one's aiight, very faithful to the orig but with a firm slap on the ass.... graemlins/spanka.gif
love thomos!

graemlins/grinyes.gif Before Strictly, the record originally came out on V4 Visions in 1992. The tracks Ping Pong & Endangered Species were both on the album from the previous year titled 'Things To Come', the mixes on the album are different.
The tracks are credited to Forbes/Banga. I was wondering if these are Chris Bangs (coined the word acid jazz/boscombe weekenders/do's at the zoo etc etc) & Chris Forbes who now works at CitiBank Lewisham. Somehow, I don't think it is.
The track I personally like best (ep versions) is 'Endangered Species' that samples Gene Ammons 'Jungle Strutt' (prestige 1969).
'Mother Of The Future' samples Carlos Garnetts' track of the same name (he also got the credit), this can be found on Norman Connors 'Slewfoot' (buddah 1974).

The track Endangered Species is excellent - is this on anything apart from the V For Visions LP, Mark? The album also has the excellent Julie Stapleton song Where's Your Love Gone graemlins/thumbsup.gif

So the original ping pong w/ vocals was released in 1992 !?! If so, that track was way ahead of its time in my opinion...

There was another 12 that came out around 1991 that was pretty good but the name escapes me.
Like so many records from that period, it still sounds great today 12 years later.

Picked up a copy on the original label the other day, thats what prompted the post.
It's one of those random labels that you would normally skim over....i was going through the £1 section at a local record store and picked it up along with a load of shite...
agree with an earlier response to the thread, this was/is some next level stuff from way back...

I was alway curious to know how big was this album in Europe. I do not think this was distributed in the US. The ping pong version is totally different than the 4 track ep version. It does have other cuts on it though...

Where the vocals for 'ping pong' specifically made for that song? Or were they sampled from another?
