I'm looking forward to this, there is a shop nearby with a GREAT 7" single section, cheap too.

Last Sunday night @ the dive I play I busted out Rhythm Heritage - 'Theme From S.W.A.T.' (ABC Records 7" - 1975) and one dude just lost it because I was playing a 7". It's almost like some people have never seen records before graemlins/grinyes.gif . Due to the date of issue, I don't think that cut was ever on a 12".

i'm out djing tonight and will be doing an hour of 7"s...the sound quality is v. different with 7" - sort of punchier in a way.

Alot of the JB's stuff only ever came out on 7" (besides albums and re-issue comps) on JB's Funky People label. I still play "Pass The Peas" from a 7"

I know many tracks produced in Europe ,wich came out only in 7''.But ,in US pord ,I think 99% of disco came out at least in 12'' and/or in LP .

It's called satire.

On a more serious note, I'd have to give props to Brian Chin, the old Billboard writer for putting together a great list of 45s (45 Floorshaking 45s) for the Disco Box compilation that came out on Rhino in 1998. He put me on to some great 7s then, and there is also the lists contained in Melting Pot magazine (edited by Bob Casey) which have a wealth of material, too. But much harder to find!

Easy Ramar, got a 45 of Law by Le Cop... it's not only available on 7" but the 12" is hard as hell to find...Marbll can testify to this...
I've been digging alot of 7s lately... Not sure which ones are exclusive to 7s... I'll go through them this weekend and post a little list. another one that comes to mind is the 7 with I Dig You by Demis Roussos that Alex sent me... This is on the LP but I don't think there is a 12.
Peace,

I have Greg Carmichael's version of "Disco Boogie Woman" on an import Universal Robot Band album. "Disco Boogie Woman" is really just the instrumental to "Can't Hold This Feeling" by Pam Todd & the Love Exchange, both of which were produced by Greg Carmichael.

a 7s-only disco record was selling in a dealer's shop recently for ?150. I figure 7s are perhaps overlooked by some dealers though, especially if they fall outside soul / Northern Soul / reggae...

anyway, here's Ladyboygrimsby's list of 7s, though some are album tracks:

boby franklin - what ever?s your sign (babylon)
popcorn wylie - funky rubber band (motown)
marco - i?m coming home (torpedo)
9th creation - much too much (hilltak)
pratt & mcclain - watchersign (reprise)
bb king - philadelphia (abc)
margo thunder - expressway to your heart (capitol)
richard ?popcorn? wylie - lost time (abc)
taj mahal - why? and we repeat why? and we repeat (columbia)
talk of the town - bumpin? boogie (tsop)
sound experience - blow your mind (soulville)
kenny lupper - passion flower (motown)
apatchi band - issmak (president)
yamasukis - aieaoa (dandelion)
spiders webb - i?ve learned from my burns (fantasy)
the modulations - i can?t fight your love
marsha hunt?s 22 - (oh no not) the beast day
attitudes - if we want to
