Yo, Tracy's my homeboy from back in the day, but that show could use some better writing. Glad he's got his own show, though! Long overdue. Hopefully, the show will get better.
Heavy D lost a lot of weight.

I thought the show was awesome, very real, and with some really good underlying messages.....no bullshit sterotype, even though they got of done without the part about him growing up in the projects...no "see, we are Black, but we can also be blah, blah, blah".....young man, who happen to be black, owns his own business(mechanic shop), is married, raising 2 sons, loves his wife, goes to PTA meetings on the regular, picks kids up from school, without one line preaching "see, I am a black man, but....". I thought the writing and jokes were on the money...that joke about child abduction is a white crime was too funny...the child who plays the youngest son is phenominal, and set to be a star...great casting....great casting...Heavy D looks good....the father from the Wayans is always a hit, and the fellow who played the pimp who had triple OG balls in a vice grip in "Friday after Next" is hilarious....this show is a hit...I really liked it and will watch/tape it every time it comes on...it's great to see something like this on NBC....
Heah, Fletch, I guess that's what makes this world great....differing opinions...

Heavy D lost a lot of weight. I agree with your thoughts smile.gif Funniest line to me tonight was when Heavy D asked, " What is a white crime anyway?" And Tracy Morgan responded, "Child Abduction. Black people don't steal other people's kids, they can't even afford to take care of their own."

Tracey is the man! Funniest dude on SNL (besides Will Ferrel). Also did some of the funniest sh*t on Crank Yankers.

I enjoyed the first episode and think that it really has the potential to be a hit. The first few episodes are usually a bit wobbley as the charecters flesh out and the writing team solidifies and or makes any changes in staff from its original form.

He and I did Def Comedy Jam together. His shit was the most bananas! Really - everyone else is attempting some pseudo-sex symbol shit and Tracy goes out there with a ripped and dirty undershit. Priceless. His entire act was genius.
Prince of a guy. Hope success wears well on him.

That show was painful. There was absolutely nothing inventive or fresh about it. The writing was tired and predictable. You can just hear the television execs..."Let's find an edgy black comic like a Bernie Mac and combine it with the safety of a My Wife and Kids...." Weak. I used to live in the same building where he and his family lived in the Bronx and he's a nice and funny guy in person too. Actually, his son is funny too. I think he could have found a much more interesting project than this.

Man, we must have been watching two completely different shows, because I thought that show was straight garbage. Tracy Morgan is like Will Ferrell-just NOT funny. I am sure he is a nice guy in person (and my opinion is not based on him personally), but he was never funny on Saturday night live and this show is just pure crap.

Now let's wait for people to be insulted for not liking it.

OK,
Knowing Tracy and having seen and participated in constant jokes and ranks around the back of Tompkins Houses (Tracy lived there before troopin' up to the Bronx) and after sandlot football practices (Greenpoint Bulls, 1982), I gotta say that that the show was not all Tracy. The SNL skits and Def Comedy standups, however, are vintage Tracy Morgan.
However, I wish all the best for him, and I hope this show takes off. And I do think that the shows will get better. The subliminal messages Ray talked about are a positive start. His show was loooooong overdue. The youngest child will steal the show, and the wife is fine, fine, fine! And it's good to see Light D (not too Heavy any more) back on the scene.

I think Tracy is funny as hell.
I didn't see the first show, so I can't comment, but the clips showed him doing jokes that seemed kind of boring.
His Brian Fellows skit is amazing on SNL tho.
He is at his best when he is just "himself". When he seems to be following a script he isn't as effective.

tracy's got too much talent to just be put into some lame ass NBC sitcom template.
i was hoping for something a little different.

I enjoyed the show and I'll give things
time to develop.
It is good to see another show like My Wife &
Kids that the black man is loving and faithful
to his wife as well as successful in business.
This ones even better because of how much attention he gives his 2 young sons, and they're
not a moron like Junior in MW&K.
Next episode Thur. 8:30 est.
