too bad househeads don't drink Once the club is fully fitted out it wont be as massive as you think. There will be many walls, tunnels and dividers put up. Some rooms will be able to be closed off to fill up other rooms first.

this is what's wrong with the "scene" today. granted, it's a "tried-and-true" business model (or is it?)
IMHO, make your money at the door and it doesn't matter if they drink or not. Give people something really worth paying for and they will (Junior's and Danny's parties have proven this time and time again).
Just MHO.

Do you think "these" cheap bastards would pay the price? Damn, a lot of people cry about paying the LOW prices that are charged now to get into some of these parties.

the parties i am now involved with charge 20 for women and 25 dollars for men and drinks are between 7 - 10 dollars (at least the well bottles are Smirnoff)...on a good night the bar will do in the area of 40 K wih another 10 - 15 K at the door ( a reasonable goal is around 40 dollars a head in liquor sales)...and the owners still cry poverty..why?..cause leasing space in NYC in 2003 AD is frigging expensive

I also agree that with inflation the price of admission to a club should be way higher.
The problem with club ownership is what you stated, "leasing." If you don't own your own space its a lost cause.

So why such a huge space if it's going to be such a challenge to fill it? The rent wouldn't be so high if the space wasn't so big, and the expected revenues wouldn't have to be so high if the rent wasn't so high - Catch-22.

JD obiviously can throw a party, the cats from Crobar know how to throw a party, they have a budget for the level of promotions they will need, there is a lot of "advance" money going into this venture...

I'm not arguing that it can't be done ... just posing a question.
I wish JD and whomever else takes this bull by the horns all the luck they can possibly get.
