The Last Minute (2002)
Palm Pictures
http://www.palmpictures.com/videos/thelastminute.html
Synopsis:
The clock is ticking. You're spending your life. Purchase wisely.
But Billy Byrne (Max Beesley) needn't worry. He's young, good-looking, talented. He's the Next Big Thing. At least that's what the London Glitterazzi are saying. On the streets, in the clubs, in the Business...
But the Glitterazzi turn out to be wrong and Billy is all over in a second. His world detonates. His self-esteem splinters. Suddenly he's on a rollercoaster ride into the London underworld - a dangerous land of murderers, thieves and talent agents.
The Last Minute, fully financed by Palm Pictures, is a darkly comic tale of fame, delusion and the high price of failure, written and directed by Stephen Norrington. The film is produced by Venom Entertainment's Matthew Justice who previously collaborated with Norrington on Blade for New Line Cinema.
Executive producers are Hooman Majd (The Cup, Black and White) and Peter Frankfurt (Blade, Lethal Weapon II, Juice). The film features a cutting-edge soundtrack boasting Leftfield, Aphex Twin, Plastikman, Luke Vibert and Bogdan Raczynski, surprising special effects by Neill Gorton and Steve Painter (Saving Private Ryan, From Hell, Judge Dredd), and widescreen cinemascope photography by James Welland (Wittgenstein, Divorcing Jack, Beautiful Creatures).
Max Beesley (Glitter, Five Seconds to Spare, Kill Me Later) leads a cast of hot young British talent including Jason Isaacs (Black Hawk Down, Armageddon, The Patriot), Emily Corrie (Births, Marriages and Deaths), Ciarin McMenamin (Circus, David Copperfield), Kate Ashfield (Storm Damage, The War Zone), and Stephen Graham (Snatch). The cast also features some of the UK's finest actors, including Tom Bell (Swing, Wish You Were Here), Anthony Higgins (The Draughtsman's Contract) and Frank Harper (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels). Cult star Udo Kier pops in for a memorable cameo as does British art critic Brian Sewell and hot US indie star Brad Matlock.
