depleted uranium is the waste product of making weapons grade plutonium. the us had lots of depleted uranium after they made all of those nuclear weapons during the cold war. depleted uranium has a half-life of 100000 years and there's no place you can dispose of it.

scientists discovered you could make bullet shells out of depleted uranium. these bullets could penetrate 6 feet of concrete. these shells have been in use in the persian gulf war, kosovo, afghanistan, and now in iraq.

exposure to depleted uranium means exposure to gamma and alpha radiation. soldiers are exposed to this stuff all the time.

run-off from this weapons waste will leech into the tigress and euphrates rivers which are the main sources of fresh water in the region.

who's going to clean it up?

I thought that I had heard that the US wasn't going to use depleted Uranium rounds this time around...is there any truth to that?

Not only that, but what about all of the destruction to the ozone from the burning oil?
