Off duty police at your party?

Has anyone here ever hired a police officer to do security at an afterhours party? As a party goer, would seeing a police officer at a party make you not want to go inside?

Never hired any, but been to a couple of events that had undercover or off duty cops there. The area/crowd of the event may need one.
