Finally a report...

First of all, I'm knackered, it's been the roughest weekend of my life, with emotional highs and lows, legendary moments, stress in infinite ways, hilarious situationsn et all. Here we go for a long report.

Friday October 3rd, 5AM

Time to get up, because Theo and Reggie were to land at 7AM at Brussels airport. Picked up Tea (Minus Tea, board member and Kinky People dj) and off we went. Had some breakfast at the airport and waited for half an hour before we saw our duo come out of the gates. They were both very alert and we got our talk on immediately. It was music talk all the way back and the 1hr-drive was a picknick. Picked up breakfast and installed ourselves in my kitchen for more talk and fun, with Theo demonstrating how Kung Fu is 'all in the hips'. Had to go to the dentist for a quick repair and came back and heard beats coming from my room, the guys were checking out each others upcoming albums smile.gif => we're in for some treats!
I'd talked about a record digger's goldmine in Antwerp and there was no stopping us, so off we were, another 1hr drive and we were there, no further info needed but for Theo's quote: 'I wanna dig here every day for the rest of my life!'.
Just as we were leaving Antwerp Theo, Reggie and Tea realised they needed to take a piss, so I pulled over and missed a great picture moment with the three of them lined up in front of some bushes :D Reggie and Tea were back soon but Theo was trying to jumpstart some grass...and then we realised he had stepped into a gargantuous dog turd... He was NOT getting into my car like that, but the plastic bags of the record shop worked miracles so an hour later Theo walked up to my house with a 'Record Collector' bag around his foot... A minute later he was outside poking with a stick and right at that moment my father came home: "I stepped into some dog shit!", "Why did you do that?", "I don't know", end of introduction... icon_rofl.gif
Washing up and it was time to go do the soundcheck, which proceeded smoothly and at about 8PM with headed out for dinner. While walking through the red light district Theo did an interview by phone live on national radio, legendary moment!
Dinner was ok, and Christiaan 'All Out K' from Rush Hour had just arrived with some goodies so again it was music talk all the way. smile.gif
It was time to head for the club and Ramses and Tea started the music in both rooms at 23h, people started coming in and slowly things got under way. I was up at 00.30 AM and things were looking good, the club was filling up and people soon got their dance on. Sadly enough the turnout was kinda low and by the time Theo was up (2AM) no more people came though the door, which left too much emtpty space in the second room where Reggie Dokes was playing. However, the main room was nicely packed and everybody was enjoying themselves, although the magic I had hoped for never really came into being. As the night progressed more people mover to the second room and the party there went on till early morning. By that time it was clear that we would not reach our break-even by a looong stretch graemlins/mecry.gif
I decided not to care too much and had a lot of fun anyway, the late-night snack (fries, what do you think?) at 7AM was another legendary moment with Theo picking all sorts of stuff from his chicken burger ("I'm kinda picky" Nooooo?).
Theo told me his plain for Sweden left at 00.30PM the next day so I set the alarm for 10AM. Got up in time, woke Theo lying half in bed and half in his suitcase with his clothes still on icon_rofl.gif
5 mins later he came storming down "this is not good Bart, this is not good at all!"...he had made a 'tiny' mistake, the mail with the flight data was sent at 12h30, the plane actually left at 11.10AM... I said "it's gonna be tight"...what with 10.05AM and a 1hr-drive in normal circumstances (no traffic jams and no contstruction work, a rarity in Belgium!), but off we went, breaking every rule in the book and averaging over 160km/h, even through construction work...arrived at the airport 10.45AM...left all non-necessary items (everything that wasn't vinyl) in the car to rush up to the check-in...JUST in time :D Left Theo jumping all over the place in joy...about to lose more time thanking me icon_rofl.gif
Got back to my place to find Reggie was still asleep so I went to play football with my team (won 6-1) and got back around 5PM to pick up Reggie.
We had a gig in a small bar in my hometown and after all that had happened I decided to get my party and drink on, played from 9.30PM till 0.00AM and then Reggie took over and made me and Tea and the rest of the packed bar go nuts over some incredible house music. By the end of the night he had me crying like a baby, one of the best experiences of my life, and I'm pretty sure Tea will agree.
We left around 6AM for a good night's sleep and I got up at 2PM for another football match which Reggie attended as well (lost 1-2). The evening saw me heading out to watch another game and Reggie had a quiet tv-night with 'the duke', one of my friends.
I took Reggie to the airport Monday around 11AM and then I headed back for what I'm still lacking: SLEEP!
An incredible weekend of love for music, but sadly enough a financial cock-up, but guess what...THAT'S HOUSE!!!

It was a pity about the turn out, and I thought Culture Club was a bit too swanky for a Kinky People event personally, but we all had a great weekend... and as I told Pi, you got to be in it to win it. Theo, at least early on, was in fine form and, from the tracks we had previewed, the Rotating Assembly LP sounds essential. And what was that Sueno Latino edit? Great to see so many familiar faces: Minus Tea, L'Housensual, Ardi, our gracious hosts Pieter & Glenda, DD Licious, David Le C, Tom D, John, Annick & Hans Techno Tourists, Stoika & side kick (?) (Bill & Ted) and meet a few more new ones. Saturday in Ghent testing too many beers and gin (?!) made our appearance at Clues all too brief... but some hot Red D mixes going on there, as per usual! Then the long journey home via "Brussels" Charleroi... ouch.

P.S. Red D- I have noone's email addresses anymore, can you PM me Pieter's?

Will do in a minute Mr Mac.

Forgot, I have fresh trunks as worn by Theo Parrish in my possesion, I am wondering whether to give them back or flog them off on Ebay? They might make a bit of money, especially if I do some cutting and stitching and label them as Ugly Trunks Vol 1, Red D's Edit-series icon_rofl.gif

about time that report came red d! ;)
again, maybe the turnout wasn't what it should've been, but daaaaaammnn i had a GREAT time.
-great music
-great atmosphere
i really liked the way everybody played. when you wanted to dance, you could dance, and when you wanted to talk, you could talk a little (well screaming is the better word)
and that's all it takes for me! one of the best so far for me, truly a night to remember. for those who weren't there: SHAME ON YOU :D
big up to the kinky crew for their efforts (you guys just DO it), and to all of those who came, and to all the great dj's i heard.
special mention to lenny and ardi for the nice set at the end of the night!

Thanks Tom D, in the end its people like you that keep us going, although the financial loss will mean we'll have to stick to smaller projects for a while, but I already have plans and ideas for future projects, I will NOT give in after a mere trifle!

Everybody check pics at www.timternet.be! (http://www.timternet.be!)

Sounds like you had another good one. Wish we had been there but the Home Office still have our passports. They must think we're a security threat, or something! :(

Forgot another nice detail: when rushing to the airport the Saturday morning Theo and I agreed that he could leave a cardboard box of records he bought in Antwerp in the car for me to ship to him later on, as these would mean too much luggage on the flight to Sweden.
Of course I checked the box last night, only to discover that he had pulled out almost all records he bought here and filled the box with stuff he played at our party, because he never likes to play the same records two nights in a row.
Now if that isn't the ultimate look-into-the-crate-of-the-big-name-dj I don't know what else is, I might even make a Theo Parrish mix cd now :D

As always the hunt is on...

looks like a dope party! i actually really wanted to come and check this out, but it just wasnt happening for me, coming over from the UK that weekend..

the fact that you got theo parrish playing your party shows the dedication you guys obviously have.. respect! what a shame that (in the uk at least) the trance****ers can fill a club pushing their nonsense idea of music, but a party like this doesnt always fill up.. gotta keep on pushin!
