View Full Version : Chain Emails - Pass Them On?

As I go through my inbox this AM, I see three different emails from friends. The emails are similar in theme:

You've received this mail because you are my friend...pick x number of people..pass this on and include the original sender.

You've been blessed...pass this blessing on...and include the original sender.

Fill in the questions about yourself...pass it on and include the original sender.

So, do you pass the emails on? Do you ignore them? Are you tired of them? Do you find it odd that after so many years of email, people are STILL sending these around?

What's your thoughts on these sort of chain emails?

I generally DO NOT even read, let alone pass on, chain email messages. I've had to ask a few friends/associates to stop sending me that stuff altogether, cuz they are crazy with it. Now, if the forward is about an issue important to me (call your Congressmen about Bill XXX), then I'll pass it along, but first, I REMOVE ALL THE OTHER ADDRESSES, then BLIND COPY those to whom I am forwarding the message.

Last but not least, on the very, very rare occasions that I have sent on one of those inspirational-type messages, I have had the good sense to remove the "If you love God, you'll forward this on" closing statement. I HATE THAT...as if God is gonna bless or not bless you based on how many emails you hustle for Him.

Don't even waste time with them, just delete.
David Mancuso posted a very amusing post regarding these chain emails a week or 2 ago.

If someone sends me something like that then they are no friend of mine.

I'm particularly curious about WHY people send them...email after email after email. It's odd that I have had friends who have been part of the email technology for YEARS and who have also seen their share of chain emails, yet some still send them...as if the idea/email were a new concept that their recipients couldn't possibly have received from other people over the past few weeks, months or years.

Anyways, I delete the emails unless they are topical and are requesting action like going to a web site to sign a petition.

Personally, I love them. I can never get enough of those tear-jerking inspirational stories, the warnings about using my cell phone while pumping gas, the bad guys who hang out in shopping mall parking lots to prey on unsuspecting females like me. It's even better when they come to me three times from my mother, my aunt and my cousin. How can I delete friendly e-mail from my relatives? I always return them to the sender, too -- just so they can know how much I care.

Do you remember regular mail chain letters? They just moved onto the internet and that makes it even easier.

Just look in the mirror every morning and say, "I'm a good person, and people really like me." (Mom! PLEASE STOP SENDING ME THESE!)
