Job1 : Menial tasks. mind-numbing boredom. listen to a book on tape to save my sanity, petty people around me, $13.50/hr. no bennies, no future

or

Job2 : $20k or so/year ($10/hr or less), health insurance coverage, (maybe for the family?), something I might possibly enjoy doing (political organizing), 3 month training period, who knows what this may lead to.

I have a family of 3.

What would you do?

What about State or Government jobs? Out of all the jobs I've had, the best ones were state jobs. The money is good and you can't beat the benefits IMO.

Peace

DEFINITELY NUMBER 2. KIDS GET SICK AND YOU'D SPEND FOREVER AND A DAY AT THE LOCAL COUNTY HOSPITAL.

PLUS, IT'S ALWAYS BETTER TO DO SOMETHING YOU ENJOY THAN TO DO SOMETHING THAT SLOWLY DRIVES YOU INSANE.

It's a no brainer. If you have kids you need benifits. # 2.

Hello C hristian,
Job#1 is a sinking ship, jump off and swim away before you get pulled down into the depths (of depression ;) ). Yeah, the pay may be better than minumum wage, but, as you said, its dead end. No where for you to move up, plus you are completely unstimulated by the work. You will be miserable if you stay. No bennies seals the deal on that one! IMVHO, if given a choice like the one you face, always go with the job that offers insurance, even if the pay is less. Why? Receive the bills from one trip to the emergency room with your wife or kid and you'll have the answer. A single visit to the local ER could cost you as much as a couple thousand dollars! Don't leave yourself open to a pile of medical expenses you'll never be able to pay my friend! Good luck! You will make the right decision.

Peace,
HML

Peace Or even company that has a contract with city or state. Benifits are a must have when you have a family.

I have a family of 3.

What would you do? i used to work for some pretty good cash, but my quality of life was sh*t. i worked 10-12 hr days, i gained 20 lbs, i was constantly pissed. i ended up having to purchase things to make me feel better about being at the job.

although i took a $12,000 pay cut & live in a more expensive city, i enjoy the environment i work in, the subjects i work with, and the job is way less stressful. i work a 7.5 hr day, i dropped the extra weight, and with the time i DON'T spend at work i can actually enjoy myself and relax. i feel way better about my life and myself.

follow your bliss... the money will come.

Find a job that has a good health benefit package, seriously!!!!!

At my current job, my standard PPO would have increased 30 bucks to $180 per month. For the first time they allowed employees to choose from a variety of Benefit programs. I chose Cigna as my primary HMO. Only $146 Dollars a month and for each Dr visit, whether it be for X-rays, medicine, checkups, I pay just 20 Dollars. My son is at the age where he's going to need immunization shots and other medical needs and this has greatly come in handy.

Peace
