i got to the party at 1:30 and stayed for two hours. its hard for me to believe but his entire set was non-emotional, a-musical, repetitive, and overall complete junk that was damaging my eardrums at a painfully high volume. i dont understand how a genius like he is even capable of the crap i heard on saturday. i was planning on staying to the end but after i was chillin next to Robbi i realized we were in the wrong club. there was no better feeling than going back to Shelter dancing at home with the regulars, Timmy wasn't there but Jihad played really well and for the first time i actually enjoyed Sting, his sound has changed dramatically since the last time i heard him. its very easy for me to take shelter for granted but going to a worthless party beforehand really puts shit in perspective. Why does Morales not play true to his loft child roots?

ps. Robbi, i hope you realize you own an exclusive piece of house history, maybe you'll at least let me hear it one day

For those of you who went to the club to see David play, what was the ratio between people on the floor dancing and how many were sitting on the sidelines complaining?

morales plays all over the world, to all sorts of audiences...i've heard him play straight up porogressive house to straight up deep and classics depending on where and whom he plays for. seeing as this was a new, big nyc club, i'm not surprised in the description of how he played. listen to his radio show friday nights, ranges from hard to deep to soulful. there is no one sound with him and that is why he is successful.

Chris, I thought the same thing about Tony the last time you guys were at Stereo.

Speaking of which Morales' sets there are other worldly. (I have never seen a DJ having so much fun and give so much of his soul.) So are Roger Sanchez's. But then again they've got a great room, decent crowd, a great system and a much longer set (10-16 hrs.)

thanks, chris...what do we expect a dj to play at a commercial venue? graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

he has a residency at stereo every month & he goes from hard, to tribal, to deep/soulful to classics in the span of 16 to seventeen hours, a time frame that allows him that kind of flexibility.

the positive thing about your post is that you speak from the heart. it's important to know these things so people don't have certain expectations. next time you'll know.

kim lightfoot-yeah, i heard spirit wasn't exactly gonna cater to the 'underground' crowd, so i'm not really surprised to hear how morales played. i had an invite to their grand opening but did not go, still haven't been there.
