Biography:
Scott K’s focus has always been house, but in the right context, any record that funks, grooves, or moves is house. This is why taking risks, breaking new music, and reintroducing classics while creating an intimate vibe is what Scott K. is known for.
“I’ll drop whatever record presents itself at any given moment. It doesn’t matter if it’s fast or slow, old or new, deep, soulful, chunky, gritty, afro, acid, disco, techy or even an original Salsoul, Stevie Wonder or Bob Marley joint.”
Scott feels that keeping real house music alive, in the spirit of disco, is what it’s all about. He has launched a new label, Boxmusic, whose first releases include his re-cut of the O’Jay’s “I Love Music,” an old school tribute EP, “Return of the Authentic Chicago Jack Track,” and a new cut with Eman called “Urban Renewal.”
Splitting his time between Chicago and LA, his biggest rush remains DJing and feeling that connection with the crowd. “My main goal will always be to DJ as much as possible. There’s nothing like sharing music with people face to face.”
