Hey just finished another track, would love to hear some feedback of what you think. I'm still pretty new to the game so I really enjoy hearing from all of you who have been at it a bit longer. As with all of my tracks, it's quiet for some reason so crank up those speakers. Also, it lost some of its dynamics because I had to use the hard limiter quite a bit in audacity, but I think it still sounds alright. Thanks for any thoughts and advice!

The percussion needs a transition point...they just drop in. The bass line needs to be compress and brought up in the mix. The synth line that starts at 1:30 is around the same frequency and is masking the bass line. I don't know if you can filter them to separate the frequency.

Thanks man, this is just the kind of feedback I was looking for.
I'm thinking of sending in a demo somewhere after I finish my next track, but obviously my tracks aren't exactly professional sound quality. Is it general practice to get demos mastered or are they sort of expected to be rough? Thanks!

Getting the mix right first is important prior to sending to get mastered. Remember: garbage in = garbage out...
I usually listen to my tracks on different systems (car, work, iPod) other than my studio to see if something is lacking. Other than that, if you have someone who has a good ear (who makes tracks that you like) to check it out on a humble.
