Rather Excited to see Karizma do his thing. Left dc Arrived in bmore for the first DJ... First dj.. done ... Second DJ no Karizma. ok.. he is going to close the party. Now its 130a and STILL NO Karizma at 2am. FAWK.
I believe the party ends at 3-30. If he came it was after I departed. I was freaking pissed.

I was there, too...and was 'fortunate' to be between some drunk fresh out of college students who think they understand this thang called HOUSE (aka POSERS). They were handing drinks across me like I was Ralph Ellison's 'Invisible Man'. So, you know I was in heaven. *mopping up the dripping sarcasm running across the post*

I love ME some Karizma (Gawd knows I do)...but I'm not sure exactly what happened that night...I'm so over dj/promos "you should come through"..."let's put a poster/flyer up"...but ain't solidify the details-type of situations. It makes for shaky business...and let down attendees. I came to see, Karizma...not because I like the crowd/atmosphere at Red Maple.

the gig with Karizma was booked for two months in advance. as far as him not being there, yeah dont really know what to say other then i know he's got bigger and better things to think about.. we book him on the understanding that it's him doing us a favor and playing for the home peoples, but sometimes there's other shit going on. last i heard he was in asia so perhaps he started a studio project or is on a spiritual journey, i still love and respect him...

i don't think it's fair for you to judge or critique myself or red maple for this. we try our best to be professional on everything.. everyone else had a blast that night at red maple regardless (N'Dinga, Lovegrove and Cooper held it down), it was a great vibe, sorry that you didn't feel it.. we can only try to make the best out of any situation as these things sometimes happen in the business.

(PS i really don't appreciate the "house posers" shit, I have to keep my composure - however, to say that just because there were young (maybe recent college graduate) attendees to our event has nothing to do with whether or not they were true deep heads. you know nothing about us and you make some kind of image-based generalization? sounds like you judge a book too much by its cover. for 6 months our mission has to bring about awareness and exposure to the underground sounds, and we have found success with some young people, what have you done for house except for call people out on some personal shit publicaly? ...so please take your rude attitude somewhere else.)

Been there (Red Maple), done that...at least twice- & it's getting old. I wasn't going to go there...but since you did so lovingly, we're going there. The first time it happened, we were told at the 11th hr that Karizma wasn't coming. The way it all played out, it seemed strange (ethically dubious) that the announcement was made so deep into the evening. Folk were vested (drinks, cover, real estate), by then. (And for the record, each time I come I let some 'dead presidents' babysit your establishment...so trust & believe-no free loading here.) My money's on y'all knew sooner... You had HOUSE HEADS come out who don't normally come out & even had folk make that drive up/down 295.

**On the positive tip MOOG, when Karizma DID come previously to the Red Maple, he 'wore it out'...and I/we had a blast. The next day, I was telling folk at work & in my circle that the Red Maple is ON IT, check them out.

Without a doubt, the Red Maple is a beautiful spot & the DJs are actually pretty, pretty good. I've come up to a few of them & complimented them...maybe it was even you. *shrugging shoulders* However, Karizma DOES NOT play Baltimore very often...and when he does, I make it my point to come out & support him. So, when I was told here on DHP/Red Maple websites--that he'd be there...I was EXTRA PUMPED. Know what it's like to see a wrapped box at Christmas only to open it & find that it's something that you didn't want. How did you feel? Let down. *insert that fake I-appreciate-you for thinking of me-smile w/ pinky to corner of the mouth*

My point to you, sir...since you want to go there...if plans have been made to 'book' someone & folk take it upon themselves to splash their likeness all over...'stand 'n deliver'. Trust me, I know things come up...but this ain't the first time the good old 'bait 'n switch' has occurred.

In closing, Paragraph I & II-decent & I can buy & respect your opinion/response. We can just agree to disagree. That PS. madness you put out there for the world to see...well, I'll let your words speak for themselves. Congratulations, you almost kept your composure...

And just to let you know why I put the word POSER out there...most of those folk couldn't name 3 HOUSE DJs off the break...and come to your spot because they like the music, atmosphere, & "lights, camera...Hollywood". (Wait, wait, maybe they could name TIESTO.)

For me, House music is about healing/bringing balance in the world of confusion/a remedy to rude posts/chaaos etc ...I hope that you can understand & respect that.

Like Petey Green says "Think twice...before you answer... think twice".

look its all good, no hard feelings... the fact is karizma has been on a world album tour and most likely it got extended. the man just released a second ground breaking album. i am sure he will be back soon and the next time it'll be all good... hope to see you out thursday when yes i am playing.

PS: yes they could name many more than 3 house djs, I know because many of them are in our group of friends... community baby. but you are still judging those books by covers..
