Just spent an arm and a leg on an old jazz record and the mthrfkr pops pretty bad - not even alcohol/hyrdrogen p seems to do the trick. any suggestions on cleaning up the static.

Never put peroxide on wax.It will warm up the vinyl and basically cook it.You may have actually done more damge with the peroxide.Try using some wd40.Clean it off with some soapy water, distilled water is a must.
If that does not work, don't know what else to tell ya...

thanks jamie,
i'll try it with the wd40 - so far no holes from the peroxide though.
do you have sound forge? if they're excessively loud pops, you can probably get rid of them with this program, then burn it on a "music cdr".

Disk Washer use to - maybe still does....makes a anti-static gun.

I know anti static works -it glues dirt and stuff to the record just like when your pants leg keeps sticking together

sometimes it's noticeable and sometimes it's not.

Kept in mind that if your tone arm and stylus is set up properly the needle will clean the groove.
Also moisture should be applied indirectly.

I'm not familiair with the term "rubbing alcohol" (I'm Dutch). Is it just plain alcohol you would buy in a drugstore orso?
