Cabana Carioca (Brazilian) 45 and 6 Avenue. Delicious Brazilian dishes (especially the seafood).
Carmine's Restaurant (44 between 7 and 8 Avenue). A bit more expensive, but humungous dishes.
John's Pizzaria (down the block from Carmine's). Brick oven pizza.
Olive Garden (Times Square) is surprisingly good.
These restaurants may not be open during "Shelter hours", but may open at 11am or noon. Otherwise, it's either Mickey D's (6 Av and 36 St) or the diner on Eighth Avenue and 34 Street). Peace.

I've never been but http://www.zagat.com/Search/Details.asp?VID=1&PID=1&LID=14&LSID=44&BRW=22&NDPH=Japanese&RID=12467
this supposed to be very good for Japanese. I think it's pricey but i'll check later today.
I don't eat meat so i do alot of salad bars and this place uptown (or DJ Paradigm's midtown) called Strictly Roots on 123st and Adam Clayton Powell. Also sometimes I do the appetizers at Negril on W. 23rd. This Dallas BBQ on 43rd st seems very popular, busy.

I guess there's always teriaki boy on 43rd st. Enjoy!!! Hope all goes well. Most restaurants in that vicinity cater to alot of the tourists and are priced accordingly. It is Times Square you know. graemlins/banghead.gif

Hey, Yuji. I went by the place yesterday and I was mistaken. It's called Hatsuhana, not Katsuhama, and it's located on E. 47th St. bet. 5th & Madison. Their aver. appetizer was $10. and aver. dinner was $26. Now the person that told about this place said it was simply the best but thats always open to interpretation. And they do have sushi, sashimi, etc. I just wanted to correct myself. Take Care.

Chan Pen (thai food) on 9th ave and 51th st. for some ass-in-the-bucket spicy goodies. it's not exactly around Club Shelter but it is worth the trek.
if you want good, resonably priced, pack with asians (mostly japanese) and will freak you out.. go early to avoiid the asian congregation at Typhoon Lounge--> 1st Ave and St. Mark's place (E. Village) for some authentic shit..
The grilled mackerel topped with sea salt and a twist of lemon is a killer.. edamamme, Asahi beer, sake, spicy tuna, spider rolls, miso with cherry stone clams... the whole nine, biotch!
go now!
