Ya'll got me looking forward to hear what's gonna happen this coming Sat.

Hey 6 23....Something I have learned through all of these Shelter threads ...
Shelter planned for months to have this event and expected a kick-ass party.....I am sure they were disappointed that some Dj's did not play or were not there.
Some were disappointed because they based having a goodtime on certain jocks being there.
Other were disappointed because of expectations of what may have you.
And so on.
Everyone is always entitled to thier own expectations, however, whenever there is the expectation of much happiness there will always leaves room for disappointment to filter through.
Sometimes, what is, is really what it is.
**sidenote...I was disappointed that I was not there. ;)
***These are just my thoughts, but I have a full expectation of being thoroughly being bashed here...I hope I am disappointed :D

Does praising the summerstage concert count?
I truly do appreciate the fact that they had Chaka at Summerstage. I hadn't seen her in about 3 years and was glad to have the opportunity to hear her scream again.
And the event truly brought out some of the nicest people on the planet.

The way I show my appreciation for businesses is through my wallet. Yes, there are a few things about the Shelter that aren't to my personal liking, but that's life. Get over it. They've done more for this music than most of us combined. There. I said it.

What else was going on in the city with the same magnitude as the Shelter?

Two lovers overheard at SummerStage:
http://pages.ivillage.com/kristieleighmaguire/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/fantasyloverpix.jpg
Woman: I can't believe all the work Shelter did to throw this event.
Man: Yeah ... Me either ... It's almost as if they knew ...
(here they pause and look at each other then say in unison)
Man & woman: It's almost as if they knew we fell in love to Chaka's "I feel for you!"
man: I hear Timmy R is coming out with a house mix of that for Summerstage 2k4 ...
Woman: Really? Wow! Now shut up and kiss me.
Man: No you shut up and kiss me
Woman: Make me!
Man: Oh I will!
Lights fade ... Couple last seen kissing to the the "Shelter" song ...

I remember when a 'Shelter Thread' on this board usually consisted of John Crockett (before the ball and chain) or someone else comming on with highlight songs/blends of the night or a playlist.
My how times have changed.

I had a GREAT fvcking time this past weekend.
Got on line in the park at 10:30 am, which yielded a great blanket spot in the shade for the rest of the afternoon.
Chaka was amazing, especially "My Funny Valentine". I was literally in tears (yeah...I'm sweet like that...). Her big notes were amazing as expected, but it was her jazz vocal riffing that really blew me away. Such control that woman has.
Crashed for a few hours after dinner.
Went to the BANG anniversary and listend to Eric and Keith Worthy rip it up, with everyone in the house goin' "What song is this ?!" all damn night.
Got to Shelter at 6:30 am and left aroun 4:00 pm.
Lost about 10 pounds from dancing.
Slept about 15 hours straight after that. Spent the next 3 days recovering on Fire Island.
My thanks to Robbi and the rest of the Shelter staff that continue to give us all a great place to let go and envelope ourselves in music. Most of us appreciate the effort. Believe me.
