Hello Dancers, Family, and Aficionados,

Prescription Records & Africa Hi-Fi proudly continues our weekly journey of music, dancing and community with DJ's Ron Trent & Leonard Part Sixx.

Wednesday, August 26 will mark one of our last Wednesday night events, as we make the move to Friday nights starting in September. From the start, Listen:U.P. has always been about building community and awareness through the power of music. What better way to continue that tradition than to the cause of AIDS/HIV.
Listen:U.P. has teamed up with the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, B.H.C. (Brothers Health Collective), and TACTS (The Association of Clinical Trials Services) to present, "With House Music Comes A Cure".

Along with our resident Soul selectors, DJ's Ron Trent and Leonard Part Sixx, our special guest Dj will be Still Music recording artist DJ Raoul K. Originally from West Africa, he's currently on his first U.S. tour, in support of his upcoming Still Music release, dropping later this year. His first EP, "Le Cercle Peul" released on Baobab Music, has received positive reactions by the likes of Henrik Schwarz, Josh Deep, Jerome Sydenham, Jephté Guillaume and clubbers worldwide. Get ready as Raoul K brings his signature blissed-out combination of elegant progressions & Afro-Tech-House beats to Listen:U.P.!

And as an extra added bonus, our opening set will be spun by a true Chicago legend, DJ Lori Branch. With a career spanning over 20 years, Lori has spun with some of the biggest names in the business, such as Frankie Knuckles, Craig Loftis, Andre Hatchett and others. From her pioneering DJ sets at legendary house music havens (Sauer's ,The Loft (Chicago), The Playground, The Powerplant and others) to her triumphant return at the 2009 Chosen Few House Music Festival, Lori continues to set the standard for women DJs. But her most important work is that of being the Director of Administration for the STD/HIV/AIDS Division with the Chicago Department of Public Health. A long-time advocate for AIDS/HIV education, Ms. Branch developed a number of public health television programs and film and video specials. These programs include, but are not limited to, the local Emmy-Award winning public service announcement entitled “It’s Not Over” for UPN, and the award winning, Kevin’s Room serial drama. Kevin’s Room was first broadcast on UPN and WCIU and was selected for over 30 national and international film festivals. As we said, a true Chicago legend.

In addition to the great music, free confidential screenings will be provided, as well as a wealth of information on AIDS/HIV research, vaccines, and prevention. Let's help these great organizations continue to keep our community healthy and aware of this dreaded plague that has taken the lives of so many of our friends and loved ones. This is a night that we all can make a difference! As always, dress to sweat! Dancing is required!

Hosted by Anika Tene', Monique, Rob McKay, our special guest hostess and family member Sista' Yaa-Leo Kitty (Happy 40th Birthday, ma!), and of course, the people that make it happen every week, our dance floor family!!!!!!!

$5 all night long!!!!

See You There!!!!
