Why is there so much hate and shade in the underground dance scene? I felt it was time to ask this because, I have experienced this on a few different levels. Some cats actually give you
the fake handshake, (like as if to say I don't
really wanna give you a pound) then when you walk away , ''Oh who does he think he is''. Then there
are certain heads who think because ,they put out a few hot tracks , that their shit don't stink.
Please'fool' a good portion of the dj's/producers
and promoters in this scene are ''BROKE'' so stop
frontin. It's depressing when you know that the
music that you play represents love and understanding , but the people in the scene don't.
I know this has been apart of the scene before I got involved , and probably will continue after Im
gone . I just wanted to know why?

- Being broke and the act of showing respect/appreciation to people are independent variables smile.gif ... it's about self-respect, anyone that snubs people obviously lacks it

What up BX!!! In no way do I defend the arrogance of some of these individuals but I will offer a different perspective and maybe a little insight. When you are a hot commodity or you have something people want(music, popularity, etc.)--everybody wants to be your friend that didn't give 2 s h i t s about you b4! This will make you jaded real quick and when someone is really overzealous about meeting you/being your friend it may make you think--what does he/she WANT from me? When you achieve a certain level you almost have to tighten up your circle of friends cause everyone is trying to put their hand in your pocket. That's why I don't sweat the so called "elite" in the biz. If I happen to meet them and we hit it off then so be it. I have friends that are in the "in crowd" but I don't hold nuts, I don't beg for tracks, I'm just their friend. I look out when I can and they usually do the same! Don't do this hail.gif Do this graemlins/beerchug.gif

same question i have about religion - tenets of love and understanding, then peoples actions are the exact opposite
same question i have about politics and government - ideas and goals of right, fairness and humanity, in practice the people act as anything but
people are ironic

Maybe the problem has something to do with too many people/not enough resources.
There are definitely way too many people with a "gimme!" attitude, but I don't think that problem is in any way limited to one group of people, it's a kind of virus infecting all of society.

I think its not enough venues and not enough support for our type of music. If we could get a bigger piece of the pie the strangle hold some folks have would eas up a bit. when you have so many talented DJ's, Artists & Producers that are spinning and creating some of the most beautiful music known to man king (IMO) and its miniscule compared to what the Trance & Techno, R&B, RAP side of dance music is doing, its frustrating.
I was looking at the Choice awards done over sea's and they were talking about folks like Oakenfold, Louie Deveto, Felix the House Cat ETC... some female dont even remember her name she won best DJ in the world or somethning like that i wanted to PUKE graemlins/puke.gif
All this Talent and No Venues = Frustration, Bad feelings,Holding on to what you got,Envy, Jealousy,Hate. if we got some breathing room i guarentee you folks wouldnt act as bad as they do.
Its Frustration thats all.
To add this one italian guy at my job said to me one day. Dj RonnieRon i tell you who you need to be like you neeed to be like Dj Scribble graemlins/conf44.gif i was trippin so hard off that stupid ass statement i didnt even get mad. but i did want to do this AR15firing.gif AR15firing.gif

it's your church, your job, your extended family, your neighborhood pub, your pool league, your set of friends, your quilting club...why should this be any different? because the music is beautiful/spiritual and all that? still doesn't add up.

Rodney, I know what you mean, I have similar feelings about it all. All you can do is practice being the positive person, and avoid the negatives. The more positive people we have out there the better it is. I'm trying everyday.

DUDE, I FEEL YA. I STILL GO THRU THAT FROM TIME TO TIME, BUT LIKE AGENT SAID, DON'T SWEAT IT, JUST KEEP THE GOOD FROM YOU COMING MUSICALLY. I HAD TO GO THRU THE GAY CLUBS WITH MY MUSIC BEFORE ANYBODY ELSE HEARD OF WHAT I DO WITH EXEPTION OF SOME LONG KNOWN NU-BANG FAMILY MEMBERS. IF ANYBODY ON THIS PAGE THAT KNOWS DJ'S MIKE FIELDS, AND MY HOMIE THRU THE YEARS, PLAYIN 95% OF ALL MY STUFF WOULD BE DJ "MIKE EZEBUKWU"!
HE'S THE REASON "MANHASSETT" GOT EVERYONE'S ATTENTION THE WAY IT DID, BEING ONE OF WHAT HE CALLS HIS "CLUB ANTHEM" TRACK.

I will not even go into details, but I found out he hard way who are real and who are not. When you get in a certain position, especially in the indystry, folks will try to milk you, then talk about you like a dog,if you see thru their bullshit.
Sometimes I throw shade just for those reasons.I do not like to be phony, but to have experienced some of the shit I have, there's a reason why I am not happy.
The ones who have been real with me and gave respect are the ones who will get anything from me,if I have it to give.
I have had folks say some and do some ill shit to me that really hurt.I know it should not have bothered me like that, but to see folks who you thought were friends, just turn on ya,says a hell of a lot about them as people in general.
It's almost like some folks think I have changed as a person, when I'm the same mofo I was before.hell,I ain't even on the level that some others are,but to see the shit that has been thrown at me,you would think I am a millionaire.

Bottom line is you can't win... it just seems to be human nature.

I realized a long time ago you can not please everyone. People talk about you if ain't got anything and they will talk about you if you have everything. I belive for some people it is the American way.
The sad thing is that you may have never done something to a certain person and people who do not like you for what ever reason will say things about you that are not true and people who never even met you will belive the lies.. If I meet people who talks about everyone else more than likely they will talk about me too.
All you can do is be yourself. just don't let negative get you down. That's what the haters want. If you are in it to win it just focus on the music. The strong do survive and the weak do fall off to the way side.
