Santos Bio:
With his Afro Latin arrangements, this producer brings dance to the music world, from traditional soul to funk and jazz Santos bridges many different elements eloquently to create his fusion of sound as every ship has its captain, Santos is ours. ~ Osunlade
Santos emerged from break dancing scene in the early 80s in his hometown of New York. The musical power of the hip-hop dance movement encouraged him to explore all forms of music. With an insatiable desire to expand his knowledge of the technical side of the industry he pursued and attained an associates degree from DeVry Technical Institute in computer engineering.
Consistently reaching and exploring new avenues Santos moved to Tempe Arizona. Tempe is the place where all his roads crossed and he became centered in the role of Dj and music producer. His charismatic New Yorker energy propelled him to infiltrate the Phoenix underground dance club arena and successfully engineer a dynamic and loyal house following. Using his distinctive technical skills he built a music studio and began to manifest brilliant productions.
By 1999 Santos produced and E.P. which was distributed at the world famous Winter Music Conference where it landed in the hands of Poji Records. This Baltimore label licensed Sunshine and established him a viable force in the House Music Scene. While shopping his first production to Tommy Mutso in 2000 he caught the attention of Osunlade, CEO of Yoruba Records. In 2001 His production of Que Vive El Canto was released on Yoruba Records and later licensed by Phil Asher for the Jazz in the House series on Slip & Slide Records. Santos also remixed the Beloved (Urbanite Mix) from Osunlades Paradigm release on Soul Jazz Records UK. In 2004 Yoruba Records released the E.P An Introduction Santos which includes Amante, Funky Bossa, Love made for Two and Brinca. In 2005 he contributed and produced Ay Mama , Caridad- TainoLeón and Raimunda- Quetzal on Ibara. His impressive productions can be found on various labels like Chillifunk, Vuja de, Poji Records, Gotsoul and Igloo Records.
His respect filled relationship with Osunlade has landed him an influential position with Yoruba Records as A&R of the label bringing and developing soon to be universally acclaimed talent such as the multidimensional guitarist/songwriter TainoLeón and the amazing violinist virtuoso Quetzal Guerrero.
Santos continues to evolve in the illuminated realm of Yoruba Records and is building influential bridges throughout the musical world.
