It's kinda tired and old for folks to knick-pick and whine over ocks who did not play.It happens in the business all of the time.If folks gave events, not parties where there are 20 jocks and one woman, they would see things from the promoters side of things.
Shit happens, get over it.If ya love those dj's who didn't perform at the set, book em.Throw ya own damn event. When shit does not go as planned,I hope you can handle the shit that comes along with it...
If I could have afforded it,I would have went.I was invited by GU top roll out with him.Would I have been pissed if he didn't play??Yes,but I don't live 2-4 hrs. away to go to Shelter.I would have been partying my ass off is Byrd was spinning.I just love the damn set"Shelter" and NYC.It don't have a damn thing to do with the dj.

Here's a fun game for you to play! Connect the dots:
Lack of professionalism on part of promotions companies........an audience that turns its back on a scene.........lack of mainstream airplay/record sales for house artists
WOW!!!!
i've been reading about all of the controversy (summerstage) and feel the term "misled" is inflamatory and insinuates some wrong-doing on the behalf of the promoter/organizer (not fair). jaime is correct in that shit happens. with an event of that magnitude, shit was guaranteed to happen. i would imagine robbi was/is exhausted. big ups on the effort! i think the whole "issue" could've been handled better on both sides.
question for those of you who were not happy with the overall event: what would make you happy at this point?

Because there are enough parties in NYC to keep anyone busy for weeks at a time.
Because they need to go to the source and stop hiding behind a keyboard and a monitor when they have something to say.
(where are the grammar police?)
Hey, I just figured out a way solution to my problems if I'm not enjoying myself, LEAVE and suck it up. Do you ask a bad date for you money back?

question for those of you who were not happy with the overall event: what would make you happy at this point? I agree...misled could very well be an inflamatory term...but the fact remains..."they don't know that"...they have not been given an explaination as to why specifics didn't show or play...
shit does happen, but do you just let shit happen without explaining to those what happened...maybe you do...
I also agree (not that it matters) that things could've been handled somewhat differently, although I don't understand why the complaintant should be asking the performer directly unless the performer promoted himself...

I've never been to the Shelter in NYC, however after reading all what happened, I would equate this with going to a multi-performer concert and only one of the acts performing. Let's say you see
First Choice, Loleatta Holloway and Ace Of Base as the acts advertised to perform, but when you get there, all you get is Ace Of Base all night. Phuck that, I would want a partial refund on the acts that I didn't see that I came down for. Too me it's the same deal, many of these DJ's, GU, etc, have developed a huge fan base and following and many DID come down to see/hear GU and others perform. And then for the promoters/Shelter to not acknowledge that is unforgiving and unprofessional. If I drove 500 miles to see an advertised DJ that I was into, i could care less about Timmy (no offense) or whomever spinning all night.

it would be "nice" to know why some of the performers didn't show but everything doesn't always happen the way we'd like. i think things will come out in time. i submit however, that you(all) will never know the real story no matter what you are told. but that's another thread graemlins/cool_shades.gif

Ohh Ohh, Danny Krivit's mixing now, I'm going home.
Ohh Ohh, Glenn Underground isn't mixing, I'm going home. Glenn EXPLAIN YOURSELF!!!!!!
Don't blame the SHelter and the promoters for all of the shortcomings, some of the stuff that went on was out of their control.
Such Hogwash!!

Such Hogwash!! [/QB]Yeah, oh ok you sell the ticket/service you better provide the advertised product or eventually you will have no customers regardless of the 'history' of the place, we've seen it happen in Chicago. Shortcomings? I'm reading these posts yeah, GU, etc they were all there but didn't perform, u know, if I was there I would pimp slap the management in that case...

Absolutely....
but as a promoter you take the heat when things get ****ed up and you get the praise and glory when it's right...that goes with the job...
But as someone stated before, if something would've been said early on to appease the consumers this would've ended 4 threads ago...jmo...
