******just an observation(IMO)*******

Having been a board member of DHP for a while now (I believe 1998 or '99) I've seen a lot of people change their stripes, regarding classics/disco and current releases. The typical Chicago "dj" enters DHP and claims (outright or through implication) that nothing from the present world of music moves them, then they visit New York City and they come back to Chicago "enlightened" and ready to "deliver the world" (That's Jere McAllister's quote) Funny thing is, I ask myself: "where have they been for the past ten or more years?" Either way, I welcome it.

Sorry QUAD no matter what point the music is at you'll always be ahead of yourself. Look at it this way though, it's better to be ahead of the game than to be the one that's always LATE?! Enlightenment comes through experimentation. If you never try it how will you know if you like it?

THAT'S FINE AND ALL GOOD IF I WAS JUST EXPERIMENTING WHICH IS 85% OF THE TIME, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO SENDING TO THE LABELS, THEY ALWAYS TELL ME THAT "WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLACE ANY OF YOUR MUSICS". EVERYTHING HAS TO HAVE A "LABEL" ON IT WITH THESE RECORD COMPANIES IN ORDER FOR THEM MARKET THE SONG. U'D THINK THEY WOULD BE INNOVATIVE WHEN IT COMES TO SOMETHING THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE AS THEY CALL "AHEAD OF IT'S TIME"

It's cool EL I know you gots ta get things straight for Fri. Handle the bidnis. As for you Quad you know I know the drama of the labels. It's been this way since we first started layin trax. None the less you never gave up. You did your music your way regardless!!!! And I will always admire that. Now what you need to do is dig into that freakin black duffle bag, if you still have it, or whatever you've replaced it with and find some of your stuff from a few years ago because whether you realize it or not a lot of it will fit in right about now. Think about PRINCE, a lot of his stuff is way ahead of the times but he releases it when the times have caught up.

The insight which I've gained about not only the history (sad part is that i was there) but the evolution and continuation of the scene as learned through the members thoughts and experiences are incredible.

Having gotten in, out and back in the swing I can truely appreciate the point at hand. I can understand what those "enlightened" ones have gone through. It's sometimes hard to find your groove in the new music. Not knowing where to begin with what's new can put you at the point of saying that there is nothing out there that moves you. It's like being in the record store and finding only 1 or 2 NEW songs that cut it then running across a group of classics that almost bring you to your knees because of the impact that they had on you when they were the SHIZNIT.
