My dear family, after 24hrs in the hospital and 3 hrs at a ear specialist I finally got home.I would like to warn peeps (especially diabetics)should not use Q-Tips to clean out your ears. You dont know what I just had to go through.IAfter using the Q-tip,I noticed an hr.later that I had some pain my ears. All of a sudden I had a servere infection! I was screaming it hurt so much. The Dr.asked of me what did I use prior to this infection and I mentioned a simple Q-Tip.She said most diabetics will get an instant infection and it takes a few weeks to recover. Now I cant hear a thing on my right ear.The Hospital refered me to a ear specialist and he said the same thing. In any case, now Im sitting here with an infection and servere ear ache and other things comming out of the ear I wouldnt want to mention. This is just a warning, cause the bacteria grew so fast to the point that the pressure in my ear felt like it was going to explode!! The ear specialist had to open up my swollen ear and put some stuff in there to try and open it up again.Painful!!!and I still cant hear out of my right ear,it takes a week or so depending on your blood sugar level.I wouldnt wish this on anyone..Thanks

I still feel like crap,I cant hear nothing out of my right ear.Its all swollen and the canal is full with pus. This ear specialist had no mercy on me,used his tweezers to open the ear between the lobe and then used a high powerd wind blaster that I almost saw my dead dad!!!lol but in all seriousness,I was pretty scared and still am.He asid it will be about a week before the ear opens back up and I can hear again.Thank God it wasnt my Djing ear..JEEZ!

get well soon!

ear infections hurt SO MUCH, i had a lot of them as a kid. and don't fly anywhere if you have one!!

by the way, q-tips are bad news for non diabetics too. all they do is stuff wax down into your ear canal, they don't actually help - most doctors will tell you not to use them. they also cause a lot of ear injuries. they recommend ear drops for wax removal instead.

Geez Sammy, hope you're not hurting too bad. I'm not diabetic but had exactly the same thing happen a few years ago and the doctor put the medication on a gauze type of bandage then rammed the damn bandage into the not-blocked-up part of my ear for the stuff to soak in as it got absorbed further and further along the bandage. Complete agony. I got the same lecture about Q-tips.

Sammy, I'm sorry that you had to go thru that agony. But don't fret. You are on the road to recovery, plus you learnt a very valuable lesson in the process.

Blessings to you buddy!!! graemlins/bighug.gif

yikes! i hope everything is getting better now hermano. and do stay away from q-tips...like it was mentioned on this thread, use the ear wax removal liquid as well as a syringe with lukewarm water which will clean out the ears better in the long run...get better soon hermano.

I don't even know you, but your kind words, have
