anyone into this already semi-hyped uk edit freakster?
one of his tracks appears on the new larry heard mix (last track) and although it too has a bit of this spacey delayed feeling that sooo many other uk edits have (noid, big bear etc ect) and which is really getting on my nerves, i can't deny that i like this track.
couldn't get my hands on any of his records so far tho
any comments?
I picked up his rework of frontin' by NERD.
Its a nice track, I'm pretty sure he did an edit of the Erykah Badu tune, 'on and on'aswell. If it was him that hit that one, its dope. I cant check I am at work,
peace

you can pick the frontin track up @ www.juno.co.uk (http://www.juno.co.uk) , also has a MP3 sample,

Raphael Sadiq Yam - Sky's The Limit is lush, lush, lush!
I find that 'Frontin' was not mastered too well, it's too loud and distorted in parts.

Yep he is pretty good, Blackbeard too, these guys are a lot more soulful than the Idjuts etc, who have more straight Dancefloor appeal.
N'Dambi
Raphael Saadiq
Little Brother
these are the best cuts from the man.

He just had one re-edit EP out a few weeks back, and a new one by the looks of things.:
Common : Close To Me (Blackbeard's Summer Madness Reworks)
Blackbeard
Come Close To Me (Blackbeard's Broken Dub)
The standout track on the "Electric Circus" LP gets two reworks to die for on this strictly limited 12". First up is an epic ten minute soul-jazz-hip hop reworking, with Mary J Blige's vocals and Common's rap taking an even more spiritual edge than previously experienced. On the flip the "Broken Dub" keeps the amazingly uplifting strings of the original, and some of the vocals and adds a tougher broken beat for the floor. Coming outta the Yam Who network, oh man, you're gonna love this!!!
12" - BEARD001 - £6.49
As with the Yam Who re-edits, this is pretty limited!!
Freeway Feat. Allen Anthony : Alright (Blackbeard Reworks)
Blackbeard
Alright (Blackbeard Vocal Rework)
Alright (Blackbeard Rap Rework)
The next phase in the Yam Who / Blackbeard story, whose micro-scene is rapidly overtaking everything else 2003 has to offer. Here, Mr Blackbeard offers two versions of this sublime cut from new Philly hip hop soul outfit, Freeway. His lush melodic arrangements and soulful strings again do the impossible and improve upon the original! Using Ronnie Foster's Blue Note fave "Mystic Brew" (as used on A Tribe Called Quest's "Electric Relaxation"), the half-house, half-soul production strikes a perfect balance too and this is amplified by the two separate mixes. The A-side has the vocal sung in a real soulful manner and is smoother, while the B-side has more obvious breaks and a rapped chorus. Sweet as...

The standout track on the "Electric Circus" LP "I am music", well that's the stand out track IMHO.

there's more Yam Who edits in the pipeline:
Dwele - angel and a Roots edit seem to be finished.
also watch out for another Red Astaire edit: after his crazy take on D'angelo, he mixed a Sade track ( can't remember which one though )
