I just copped that LP.
The most I can say is that the BEATS WERE RAW. There are 3 OUSTANDING Cuts (Snoop Dogg, Jay Z & Busta).
I think they should collaborate with one GOOD MC and make a REAL Hip Hop album, even if it means taking on a Moniker which differs from their real name. Its cool that they did not assume the Hip Hop image to the extreme and dared to LOOK different.

Clones is a good LP but the potential is GREATER, the biggest question I have is "Can they make beats which are NOT party jointz in order to make a Classic Hip Hop LP; I.E. Tribe, EPMD, EricbRakim, BDKane, B.D.P., etc. etc.???

Or am I buggin graemlins/all_coholic.gif ?

graemlins/conf44.gif haven't heard the album...

i'm saving my money, and waiting till the jaylib album (http://www.stonesthrow.com/jaylib/index.html) is released this week.

hope it can live up to my expectations.

Jaylib LP has some nice beats, but I just can't listen to it all the way through and enjoy it.

i listened to the super cat cut on there and i was really disappointed

i heard they signed super cat to their label and were producing his album so i was curious to see how that might work out. if that tune is any indication i'm not looking forward to it

Their work on Kelis's "Wanderland" LP ranges from hard rock to smooth bossa nova, with just about everything in between thrown in as well. Very complete artist album right there.

i was extremely dissapointed with clones..... only 3 tracks that are indeed good...the rest is filler-stuff...... it seems the neptunes are not ready for prime time, releasing a consistent album of quality cuts.....

I dig pharell! The guy has his own style of performing and trying things out... their impact on the hip-hop/r&b scene is immense. And if you think that they're not able to make a proper album; check out the N.E.R.D. album 'in search of...' it's all there...

We've had this argument on DHP before..I agree with you but there are those who say all their songs sound alike..Go figure.

which version of the NERD album are you referring to? the original version, or the 're-recorded for the US' version?

That N.E.R.D album is the shit, the programming alone on 'Lap Dancer' is worth the praise, throw in 'Rockstar' and 'Provider' and you've got a great Hip-Hop album :D
