Now that editing older Disco/dance/whatever tracks
is getting recognized and legitimized by record lables,
I decided to take the plunge and download the
Mac OS X version of AUDACITY, a simple, basic
Open-Source freeware sound editor.

Anybody played around with this?

I can't figure out how to get a song from a CD into the program for editing.
The help-menu is very minimal and there's certainly
no paper manual available.

(I do have iTunes, but don't really know much
about how to use that, except mainly for listen to Live365.com
radio streams with it and not much else.
I use Realplayer to listen to the mix archives here on DHP.)

Anyone have experience, advice, or some links?

I assume the functionality is similar whether
your machine is a PC or a Mac.

i've used audacity on my PC and Linux boxes...nice, simple editing tool -- i'm not a producer by any stretch of the imagination, but it worked for me...

to edit a song, you have to click on "Project" and then "Import Audio"...here you'll be able to pull in the song/track you want to edit...

let me know if this works...

thx,
