View Full Version : Music & the Holidays

Seasons Greetings:

With the fast approaching holidays there is in the air plenty of music being played ... whether it be spiritual, or tunes for the children i.e. "here comes Santa Claus, right down Santa Claus Lane," and/or a new release.

Interesting enough, the shelf life of lot of this music seems to be never ending. Often the same song will be done over and over again, by different artists, and sometimes enjoying it even more.

Since music plays such a strong role in our lives "hear" on DHP, I thought you might want to post one or more of your favorites indicating the title and name of the artist(s)

Happy Holidays and may it be a musical one!

Happy Holidays D!

Mine would have to be Donnie Hathaway - "This Christmas"...

Hang all the mistletoe
I'm gonna get to know you better
This Christmas
And as we trim the tree
How much fun it's gonna be together
This Christmas

Fireside is blazing bright
We're caroling through the night
And this Christmas will be
A very special Christmas for me

Presents and cards are here
My world is filled with cheer and you
This Christmas
And as I look around
Your eyes outshine the town, they do
This Christmas

Fireside is blazing bright
We're caroling through the night
And this Christmas will be
A very special Christmas for me

alright David, I'll be the first to bite.

I am still looking for the best rendition of this. So, if anyone knows the definitive version, or what they feel is a great version of this, please let me know.

Carol of the Bells

Hark how the bells,
sweet silver bells,
all seem to say,
throw cares away
Christmas is here,
bringing good cheer,
to young and old,
meek and the bold,
Ding dong ding dong
That is their song
With joyful ring
All caroling
One seems to hear
Words of good cheer
From ev'ry where
Filling the air
Oh how they pound,
raising the sound,
o'er hill and dale,
telling their tale,
Gaily they ring
while people sing
songs of good cheer,
Christmas is here,
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas,
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas,
On on they send ,
on without end,
their joyful tone to every home
Dong Ding dong ding, dong Bong

I just realized I might be following your already exisiting thread. Thank you for being a good sport. graemlins/bighug.gif

If the song Oh Wholy Night is the same one that you are going to send then this just might be the best Christmas ever. That song just disolves me into a puddle of joy.

Best to you and your family for the Holidays!

102.7 FM ("hear" in NYC) is playing 24 hrs of Christmas and Holiday music. So far I have not heard it in their rotation. Might just be a good time for his producers (if haven't already) to make that move as they seem to be playing everything and anything relating to the holidays.

Happy Holidays to you!

Good sport? yeah, that's me. But I was a'wonderin'...

But you know, I got plenty more good threads in me.

Dissolve you into a puddle of joy? Wow! That's somethign I gotta see! Better record now!

I find it hard to believe that in the Mancuso record collection, the originator of record pools for crying out loud, there is no opera singer in there singing o holy night! Well, maybe you are looking for the EXACT one, and maybe I have it. In that case, thank my wife for picking it up at the thrift store the other day.

The thrift stores are where it's at!

All right, I'll get off the computer now and record. No more dilly dally!

After a very deep sleep and not fully coming out of it (not realizing) I saw the word "Donnie" and took it to be from cloud nine. There4 me thinks he has a that particular tune/version out..... double oops!

Take care,

d

Ps I hope you had a chance to meet Goshi. Anyway we will speak soon.

recording.

you know what? I wouldn't be surprised if this WAS the one. (getting back on the computer just to say this). Why? B/c of how my wife coincidently picked up this record, (and she NEVER picks up records), and how I just happend to find a completely blank tape just the other day - the one I'm recording on for you now. I mean, I am a BELEIVER in coincidences! THIS is what the magic of life and the people around you is all about!

But if this does reduce you to puddles, you OWE me! I'm talking about getting me to the Loft! ;)
Yeah yeah, we can discuss the terms at a later date!

Alright, I'm getting off. Going to bed now. Good night.

Ps. to: JMNYC

Still could be an "fair angle" to get air play for a group, new or already established band, that is not getting radio play. Holiday music is pretty much across the board.

It's just a thought....catch u on the rebound.
