hey Guys I Loaded W7 64 bit and Im loveing it. I brought a HP with an i7 chip and 9 gigs of ram ( fast as hell) about 5 months ago with vista on it and finally got my upgrade to W7 everything is loading find. Cubase and Acid and Frutyloops and Nuendo and all my plugins even most of the 32 bit plugins that i love useing. I will keep you posted if any thing changes but so far im loveing it

Hey, what does the 64 bit thing do? Is it a speed thing?

In audio terms it is the 'dynamic range'

well for one thing 64bit allows me to have access more ram for better proformance

64-bit architecture handles memory (RAM) much more efficiently than 32-bit applications. Normally with 32-bit versions of Windows, the maximum amount of memory the system could have was 4 GB. This is no longer the case with a 64-bit OS.

For the most part though, unless your applications are programmed for 64-bit OS', you won't see too much of a performance gain. For things like the Adobe software suites and Pro Tools, the difference is enormous.

Microsoft are really pushing 64bit at present

Its actually getting harder to get supply on 32 bit machines

I'm glad your plug ins etc are working ok Joe I'm thinking of making the move over soon

I am using the 64 bit version of Sonar 8.5.2. The system is a lot more stable and sounds better. The only downside is that all 32 bit plugins are not avaliable and no rewire support. With the newest version of sonar 8.5 more plugin are avaliable with the bitbridge. For me most all the plugins I use are avaliable. You can also run the regular 32 bit version on the same machine.

Oh, so it's actually processing the audio at 64 bits? I thought it had something to do with the processing power.

Must just be the plug-ins, right? I don't know of any 64 bit recording devices. What DAWs support 64 bit audio?

plug ins yes. DAW I don't think so allthough smooth87 verify's that.

It's HOT!! The only thing is that they dont offer Marcromedia Flash for it..and also there are alot of programs that are NOT compatible with Windows 7..

I cant seem to load my music programs Cubase SX ect..Only Reasons 3 loaded without any errors..

BTW..I need you help fam.I cant seem to find the keygen for my Cubase SX 3.0 If anyone has a licence key,plz PM it to me..thx.

In all honesty, even if I'm mainly using ADobe's creative suite, the windows 7 is far better than vista.

Speed at start, great recovery, easy to understand, less shitty visuals like in vista, and really better with 64 bits apps!

I recommend it, being using it for 3 months now with absolutly no problem, while I am a guy who likes to custom each and everything.
