While we usually celebrate this day with practical jokes and purposeful misleading info, let's not forget that this is the 19th anniversary of Marvin Gaye's death at the hands of his own father. The ironic part was that because Marvin's father shot him on April 1, 1984, many people thought it was a joke, until you saw Gaye's body on a body bag.

Feels kind of stupid to say "thanks" for such a reminder, but I do feel you've brought up an important memory that helps keep things in perspective.

Damn, how could I forget. That was a gloomy day. I'll never forget Marvin Gaye singing the national anthem at the NBA All Star game. He ripped that too shreds! RIP

THANX FOR THE REMINDER. I REMEMBER THAT DAY BEING UP IN THE SHERMAN PARK FIELD HOUSE AT A BASKETBALL GAME WHEN THEY ANNOUNCED IT ON THE RADIO. EVERYBODY THOUGHT IT WAS A JOKE. NOT ONLY WAS IT APRIL FOOL'S DAY, BUT THE NEXT DAY WAS HIS BIRTHDAY. YEAH, IT "MAKES ME WANNA HOLLA, THROW UP BOTH MY HANDS." graemlins/acclaim.gif

I didnt know it was Marvin's birthday the next day. That makes the whole even weirder. But enough gloominess, I'm gonna go listen to some Marvin Gaye. ;)

My moms came into my room to tell me, as if it was a death in the family. RIP.
