Yo,

I'm trying to step up my mixes by throwing in some beats of my own. I was listening to "House Music" by Eddie Amador (for those that don't know) and I was REALLY digging the feel of this. It's minimalistic genius. So, what's the issue Michael??? House isn't made with MPC2000's (from what I hear). So, I either need to go the software route (like having cybersex as far as I'm concerned) or get some PHAT drum sounds (borrowing someone else's d!ck for the night).

Any producers out there??? What are y'all using??? Any MPC users out there making HOUSE beatz??? And, please spare me the "that's what hip hop hedz use" speech. As Sunshine Anderson so eloquently put it, I HEARD IT ALL BEFORE :)

WHO IN THE HELL TOLD YOU HOUSE BEATS/MUSIC CAN'T BE MADE ON MPC'S? ITS ALL IN WHOSE USING THE MACHINE. MYSELF PLUS A LOT OF OTHERS CATS I KNOW CAN REALLY TRICK THE UNIT OFF. LEARN THE MACHINE.

my understanding (2nd hand mind you) is that you can get a swing in the beats on the mpc that are really subtle but excellent.

here is a set you might like which is house music made without any computers - the drum machine is not an mpc, but it's the same idea of making house music in the old school way:

a lot of songs are made w/ a mpc. the mpc was my first piece of "professional" gear and i used the hell out of it. it'd mostly for beats, sequencing, and samples. you can sample and time stretch chords but it much better to use a synth. personally i've regressed to all analog gear and use the mpc for sequencing and the odd sample. currently all my midi gear is at a friend's studio so now at the house i have a tr-606, simmons sds-2022, mc-202, and a msq-700. i'm currently saving for a tr-808.
