Fingerprint with Mirko Loko
16th Jan 2010
Spektrum, Manchester
11pm – 5am £10
Mirko Loko (Candenza) | Esseker (Pram) | Brad Parkins | Iain Dixon
It’s Fingerprint time again and it’s all set to go off once again: After the deep dubby house of Clive Henry last month, things are decidedly airier this month with Cadenza man Mirko Loko the guest.
Having toured in DJ super group Aether with Luciano this summer, and after a strong debut LP ‘Seventynine’ it’s been a good year for the Swiss DJ and producer. His DJ sets weave long drawn out percussive sections with micro house and minimal techno touches. While Loko aims for the dance floor, he also reportedly is found "ducking into shadowy corners in search of more private emotions" so why wouldn’t you want to join him. On his musical journey?
Esseker from Pram also makes an appearance in the heart of the derelict warehouses that is Spektrum. He’s played alongside the likes of Joel Mull, Damien Schwarz and Pier Bucci at top clubs around the world, so make sure you bring your dancing shoes.
Residents Brad Parkins and Iain Dixon work their crowd before the headliners get on every month, and make the most of the club’s punchy soundsystem. From house to techno and all in between, the residents know exactly what to play to build things nicely. Their Spektrum home is a darkened loft space with floor to ceiling speakers and a DJ booth right in amongst it: a suitably underground setting for a wised-up party.
