Hi guys, I am considering purchasing Ableton 8 Suite. I currently use Logic 8 and will continue to use this as my main DAW but am interested in lots of the new options provided by Ableton.

Logic 8 struggles with advanced warping and real-time time-stretching. Logic 9 has Flexi Time but I have not heard great feedabck- but would like to hear any thoughts.

In your opinions which DAW provides the best Advanced warping and real-time time-stretching capabilities. I would like to increase bpm for several edits that i would like to work on. My requiremnets would be taking taking 110bpm up to max. of 123bpm- for ceratin tracks.

Thanks in advance, Matt.

From what I've been told, the current versions of Protools including LE, are very good at this in terms of retaining sound quality.

Thanks Ethan; I am looking at Pro-Tools and the pitch and time functions look very good. Not sure if Digidesign are about to launch a new product as the old software I can find are upgrades?

I have also now had Ableton 8 highly recommended as a reliable tool for this.

Thanks, Matt

I can tell you that the majority of Mash Ups and Time Stretches done these days for re-edits and so on are done on Ableton.

Find a free lite copy of Ableton 8 to play with and see for yourself. It's great. Makes time stretching and warping easier than previous versions.

Ableton is great for timestretching...really simple... just gotta keep an ear out for those artifacts..

Acid pro 7 has a great beatmapper for changing tempo and will not affect the pitch.

Ableton's strength is its warping capability. It works great with drastic tempo changes with out altering the pitch (no chipmunks sound). If you're using Logic you can rewire Ableton into it and still take advantage of all the great properties of Logic.

pro tools does it all and well if you know what to do, and it is not that hard to use like some people think.
