i know our type of music is not as popular as it was 10 years ago guys and i know that the trance and shitty hard house sound spoken about on a previous thread is popular with little E swallowing kids.
the answer i wanna know is "do deep house heads want it to stay underground or do you want it more mainstream"
I would like it to be somewhere in the middle.so the artists can sell records and make a living and the djs can do their stuff and make sum $£'s.
this is my opinion but would others like to comment!

i voted in-between which i think is the current affair of house, i also do think that DJMAG list isn't all bad as there is about over 30 house DJS in there, even though i would prefer more deep cats then the mentioned MAW, Danny Tenaglia & some others
the in-between vote i choose is just showing that the UNDERGROUND just lives better if there is a mainstream sound to top it all biggrinangel.gif

just too many factors go into something like house. Balance is the goal, a set ratio between the two which each particular scene needs. Underground gets incredibly boring and no less monotonous than pop music when it dismisses soulful stuff altogether and strings together talking record after talking record "let me tell you about house, house is a body thing..." followed by "let me tell you about the rhythm", which are interspersed with "pots and pans" records, as frankie knuckles aptly calls them. Boring, boring, boring. (this observation is based on Europe, Italian and German DJ's). On the other hand the commercial image of house is garbage, and those ubiquitous "Hed Kandi" girls that show up on posters and flyers for the fancier set, and pop house, which still has as its model Boris Blugosh's remix of Sex Bomb.
Its not looking good, but strangely as soon as I hear Timmy Regisford or DM throw down, i get the strange feeling that it'll be ok...

i thought this would be intresting to know what ppl felt about this.
I always hear ppl say house is dead or is dying.i think what they really mean is that its going more underground again or its not appealing to as large an audience.this has an adverse on producers and artists because they cant afford to live or keep bringing the music without other income. This is a shame as we are probably losing out on a lot of good material due to this.
if house was more commercial everyone would be moaning that artists have sold out!
if its underground people moan about there not being enough material!
i suppose what thx1138 said is very similar to how i feel i was just curios to see how others felt about this issue smile.gif

I've always hated that term "house". It's putting our music in to a category to be judged.
House has many meanings, depending who you ask what it is.
There are many forms of music, but to put it into one term only serves to give someone an idea of the type of music a DJ or club features and that's fine with me.
I like some of the stuff I've heard out here like "naked music" and some of the other labels and artist such as "MAW" (Men at Work).
I DO feel that a lot of this music has a latin influence and acoustic guitar which lends itself to a more instrumental sound.
Hey at least we are not going into the direction Rap is (that music by lil John is destroying hip hop).
