View Full Version : alright...lay off of my GATDAMN city chicago!
ain't nothin' wrong with chi - even the most intellectual scientists, artists and ceo's often need therapy and a few in-patient mental programs per year...
the fact is, if chi wasn't so critical, it wouldn't be so damn great...
you gatdamn silly chicagoans...y'all got damn near the best deal going and all y'all can do is have an 8 page thread going about how foul chicago is?
and THEN y'all let some OTHER folk come in on the convo and say some ill shyt about chi as if they know about the entire scene and all y'all can say is, "uh...yep..."
the disloyalty lies within your unconstructive bitching...
someone needs to ship y'all asses to detroit and make y'all stay here...
silly fools...

Ohh if you think Chicago is hard up, Detroit is another thing. That's why I have so much respect for the heads out there. They do it from the heart out there cus it is so tuff! I do a couple shows out there also.
Big ups to Mike "Agent X" Clark, Delano Smith, Norm Talley, Barbara Deyo, Gabe Real, and everyone else out there keeping shit alive.

It's not Chicago, it's DJ's that alway got something to say about another DJ - like the party-goers reall give a damn about what they say.
They {DJ's} are the ones that brought about the term "Sing-a-long" in refrence to certing songs that the public like.
Had Vince played Promise Land & French Kiss - DJ's would have been talking junk like, "this aint 1989" but since Timmy played it - it was the S**t that night.
I am not double jointed and can't kiss my own ass. I be damn if I kiss the ass of an out of towner and I dis one of my own.
I saw true colors Friday night and I say "If you'll do it to Vince, you'll do it to me too."
Chicago will remain F**ked up long as these snot-nosed DJ's keep saying the wrong things at the right time.
Booing Vince as he worked was un-called for, rude, and down-right disrespectful.

But if people aint bitchin' they aint got nothin' to say... Start a thread about something positive or a solution to something or talk about unity or trying to have some and see how many people respond
mr. magic, you know me - i'm doing my thing steadily... ;)
sense, you are SO right - it's hard out here getting things done - hell, damn near everyone performing at demf is performing for FREE...do you think chi could do that with all this complaining and whining?
it really hurts to see chi folk attack the beauty they've created...it's as if the chi house scene is an anorexic - everyone sees how beautiful y'all are, but you still think you're ugly...

in chi, we've always had the right to boo whomever we felt was bunk - from frankie to ronnie (if he ever was)...only recently has censorcship come to play within chi's scene and it stinks...it reeks of insecurity and brown-nosing...
vince can handle his own...don't you know that?
rroy...at least folk made it clear who they were booing...you got beef with a particular dj? let it out - vagueness counts for nil in chi - you know how we do...

Chicago has more talented unheard dj's than maybe any other city in my opinion, but we also have more haters than any other city in my opinion. I wonder how people would've responded if Tim played all "singalongs" or all techno.

Ms. X
Do you have a venue out there? We had a big tour coming out there to Alvin's and now one of the promoter's has lost the venue so now one of house's greatest hero's(hint- front page) might not be playing out there.

People on the floor obviously didn't feel Vince they way they did Tim, but Vince did his thing which was all the club could ask for. I wonder how the crowd would have reacted if Vince would have played the "Say Yes" remixes, the Sean Escoffery, the Blaze, and M.A.W. Tim played. A record doesn't get any better just because a certain dj is playing it. Music is music.

that is the most clear and true statement ive heard in this thread so far.
Im from scotland love house music and i hear that statement clearly.Music is music. Some people play house and classics and its great>Frankie knuckles plays big hits and classics and old stuff and hes a great dj,If djs spin their vibe and its not big and well known it doesnt mean that they aint good it means they wanna play their vibe. Some djs play big tunes and get away with itFrankie is one regisford is another.I heard timmy play at southport in the Uk and he was shit.mixing wasnt good and he played hits all night.Seems to me some djs just play what they think everyone wants to hear.Id rather listen to Alan King.Frankie Feliciano, francious k any day :D :D

yeah, people may have booed but he (vince) sure built up some tension in that place for timmy to work with.
