HELP ME RID MYSELF OF POPUP ADS!!!!

i've done the delete cookies thing.
it's annoying to make them again.
and the ads come back anyway.

how do i make these things stop attacking me? (free of charge preferably)

Well, you have two options:

1) You can disable javascript within your browser to prevent pop-ups or you can have it prompt you when a javascript is about to execute and then you can decide whether or not you want to allow it or deny it. Go to Tools > Options > Security > Custom > Active Scripting > click the radio button for disable or prompt (your choice).

2) You can use third party software. I use Pop-Up Stopper (http://www.panicware.com/product_psfree.html) which works very effectively for stopping all the pop-ups you get when checkin' out the ol' porno sites (not that I do that smokin.gif )...hope that helps.

also try ad-aware it will clean out any spy bots

Another option: use the web browser Opera. It has a preference to completely turn off pop-up windows. Occassionally something (like the polls here, for instance) legitimately needs to use a pop-up, so I find myself occassionally having to turn on popups, but most of the time I leave them off and 99% of the sites I view work fine.

also...do not install programs like Date Manager from Gator Company. People are often prompted to install this piece of software and other apps from Gator Company while they happen to be browsing the web. Gator Company is notorious for installing a bunch of mini-apps along with Date Manager that do things like tracking, popup ads, etc.
