the crackhouse

Maybe some people here already work that way, but yesterday I was happy with a bassline, so I copied and pasted it on 30 steps and tried to work different breaks, try different sounds over it, changed the drum patterns, and I ended up with many parts which could be used in the same track.
While I mostly stuffed my computer with ideas and only released one "finished" track this year, this was a good thing for me to make this mix (instead of just block one loop with all my ideas inside).
I also mixed 2 things I always did separatly previously : recording my voice to save ideas (make the music with your mouth) and working on someone else's track to create the ideal track that I would blend with it.
So, what I did was to sing over a track I adore (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6TzXJp_mfM) while recording myself with my cellphone, while driving... Ahem...
Back home, I saved the sound file on my CPU and loaded it in reason, so I couls directly work over my voice and find the sounds and notes easily.
This post may not be of big interest for most of you here, but for unprofessionnal producers like me, it may open a new way of working the box.
