1st Annual DHP Family Reunion

In another thread the idea (my idea) :D of an annual get together for all DHP'rs came up...

How many would be interested in something like this?

How far would you be willing to travel?

How many days should the event take place?

What would you like to have happen at the event?

Would you be willing to work on the host city committee?

just trying to get some suggestions...thanks

Asaki, since you are member # 2554, you probably don't know about the DHP rule that anyone who comes up with a party idea gets to finance the entire thing, including travel and accommodations. graemlins/cheering.gif

It should be at least be a couple of days, and like a real house & disco convention, with parties, record buy/sell stands, contests and lots of good fun... maybe an occasion for the more experienced to share their wisdom in discussion panels and stuff... honestly I think an event like this could grow to something quite amazing and beneficial for our community! graemlins/beerchug.gif

I'm thinking of switching it from Europe to the VS every year... with variation in cities of course, or Asia also maybe... just brainstorming...

Here's an idea: There are many things going on throughout the year, how about doing something down in Miami before or after WMC (most of the DHP heads are there already with accomodations), or New York, Jersey or Chicago to start off there are many annual things happening that draw us together anyway.

Just a thought graemlins/conf44.gif Not bad, but maybe it's cheaper to do something in a period when nothing really big is happening in that town... to keep hotel/food expenses down... just a thought, and maybe it's better if it stands out as an independent event, or even a sort of alternative for WMC.

Chicago.. Miami already has a conf. We could do it over a 4-day period. Thurs. Fri. Sat. Sun. A huge picnic on a Saturday or Sunday. A couple of clubs to host official parties. Club Tour. Parties for those that like the different genres of house ie; Classics, New music, techno, etc. Vendors at the picnic selling mix cd's, t-shirts, foods, art as it relates to House, performances by the likes of Mr. A.L.I. and a host of others. A couple of guest speakers relating to house scene in general. An alderman or elected official explaining the crackdown on parties and explaining the laws as it relates to parties. The possibilities are endless.
