Not many recall this show.
I was one of its few viewers. That's probably why it didn't last long.

Our job is to get

Wow, and I thought I was a nerd...

I do have a secret love for SMALL WONDER, simply because it is the worst show to have ever been produced in the history of this thing we call television. It's so bad it's good.

Did anyone ever see the show "The Powers of Mathew Star?"
It was about a guy who can leave his body (spiritually) and go solve crime mysteries. The show aired at night for a season or two.

Channel "U68" (1985/86)/videos

"Mama's Family" (set in the South)

that wrestling show they used to bring from Puerto Rico on channel 41 back on Saturday afternoons

that kid's show channel 11 wpix used to air with the two young women with the long hair and acoustic guitars that had a theme song that went something like "see ya see ya, hope you had a good old time" and it had this pet tiger puppet on it (it was called something like "Magic Garden"???)

el canal 47 (especially in their pre-Telemundo days including their short stint with "Netspan")with the following shows:

Los Kakukomikos (Juan Manuel Lebron, Bizcocho, Shorty Castro, & Lourdes Chacon)

Estudio Alegre (see above cast for "Kakukomikos" but add "Dagmar")

El Show De Las Doce with Eddie Miro and "La Condesa Del Bochinche" (what about that skit where this old guy would do anything just to get close to this nurse who revealed much cleavage?)

El Show De Iris Chacon (ahi viene!)

classic channel 47 commercials:

"Tops In The Bronx" (Vengan Aqui! Vengan Aqui!)

"Foodways" with that lady in the big-ass bow on her head and the oversize, thrift-shop round and thick sunglasses

Viandas Goya (viandas, que quieren comprar mis viandas Goya?)

Studebaker Jeans

Filippo-Totti Jeans

Varon Dandy Cologne

Machin Furniture (i used to go to high school with a student whose uncle owned that place in Union City, New Jersey...the commercials would run Cruasder's "Streetlife" in the background while the lady blows out the last candle and at the end, the lady says in a rather sexually-excaberated voice the name of the buisness)..channel 41 used to air this commercial a lot.

there was this talk show that lasted real briefly on channel 41 back in 82-83 and at the beginning, her and a few background female dancers would do their own rendition of "i specialize in love" ...

and you're really old school if you remember sneaking away once your parents were asleep and secretly turn on wwht channel 68 in hopes of catching a few glimpses of a scrambled porn movie.

dang, you remember "A La Cama Con Porcel"??? that was a classic "viejo verde" in which the opening of the show, there would be Porcel who is a hefty man in bed surrounded by all these young, skimpy-looking women...that was definetly an early 90s show on Telemundo...i even saw Porcel once in downtown Miami...as you well know, he did a cameo as "Sasso" on "Carlito's Way"...last thing i heard, he became a born-again Christian and opened a restaruant in Miami Beach called something like "A La Pasta Con Porcel"...

I always liked the School House Rock mini-cartoons, The Magic Garden (2 girls from N.J) Lambchop and friends (Shari, Charliehorse and Hushpuppie), and who can forget Jace and the Wheeled Warriors and Transformers!!! My mother still has my transformers put away for me. I got Soundwave, with 2 Decepticon cassettes, a couple of decep. planes. Autobots: I got Omega Supreme, Beachcomber, Bumblebee, Tracks, and the triple-changer that was a tank/plane/robot. Theres more that I have but I can't think of them now. If anybody feels me, who ever got their moms to but Megatron? I never found that one at the stores. Talk to me people... I might be as old as the underwear on your asses, but Transformers are the move!!

(Can you tell I was lonely as a kid...)

back in the late 70s, WOR Channel 9 (New York) would usually follow up Romper Room with an editorial oddly enough and it was not even a reporter on front of the tv, just the channel 9 WOR logo on it...

keeping up with the old school tv theme, remember:

tv stations actually signing off before the windfall of informercials that hit around the early 90s?

waiting until the tv station would go on the air (which meant either seeing the station logo on your screen or seeing a color pattern acompannied with a test-tone. some stations would play music in the background)? channel 47 in Jersey used to go on the air at the ripe hour of 4pm until about 1981...

"it's ten pm. do you know when your children are?"

"please stand by" screenshots accompanied by music when the transmission went foul?

(NYC): on Saturday nights at 11 pm on WNEW channel 5 (back in their Metromedia era), reporter Bill McCreary(???) used to have a news show called "Black News". in the intro, they used to play an early-70ish, uptempo song that sounds like Marvin Gaye crooning "whoo hoo" in it...what's the name of that song? it has baffled me for years.

Just a few that I used to LOVE back in the day:

**Freddy's Nightmares**

-based on the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. Not a bad show, IMO.

**Friday the 13th - The Series **

-VERY loosely based on the Jason movies. All had to do with some shop that sold haunted items. Kind of lame.

**Tales from the Darkside **

-Kicked ass! That intro always scared the hell outta me.

crazy post-twin peaks Lynch show called "On The Air", kind of campy but with that special David Lynch-Mark Frost one-two punch. Anyone else remember? It went for about 4 episodes on ABC. The show was set on a sound stage for a 50's variety show. Many of the twin peaks series characters return as cameos.

And what about "New Attitude" with Morris Day as a hairdresser in a salon!?

All these shows I watched in the 80s and have definitely been mostly forgotten. Most of em lasted a few months:

Bj and the Bear

Enis(spinoff from Dukes of hazzard)

Carter Country(the phrase-"Handle it Roy"- comes to mind)

The Renegades(Gangbangers resembling 'The Warriors' became crimefighters)

Ten Speed and Brownshoe(Ben Vereen playing, what else, an ex-con opposite Jeff Goldblum)

Grady(Whitman Mayo tried to ride the coat tails of Sanford and Son)

Hotel(with Shari Belafonte)

Jackee(Jackee Harri thought she was bigger than 227. Morris Day also did a cameo on this one. It didn't help.)
