"Saturday night shining on my Sunday morning face..."
Thelma Houston
------
dear friend and dancer,
raise up your Voices again with us this Saturday at The Lane, Brick Lane's stylish new bar: directly next to City Hotel on Osborn Street.
entry is FREE and we're running from 7pm - 1am.
...a warm-up for dancers, music lovers&others - spend time with us & broad selections of music before you continue your Saturday night/Sunday morning or stay it out for those last few songs to take you away or take away with you. leading your ear via Soulful Dance, Disco, Dub, Hip Hop, Afro, Jazz and beyond...
this Saturday 16th August has Voices resident DJ ALEX recovered and inspired from his birthday celebrations. those who made it down two Saturdays ago and continued on till 7am know what we are talking about! expect contemporary soulful dance via NY, CHI, JPN. also as the sweet summer continues get ready to feel the heat from the crates- those classics and rare jaunts!
the emphasis of Voices is to bring you the best new and underground music we can, always leaning on the soulful side. but that means we can dig the new Shaun Escoffery R&B offering and travel through the evening to meet Dr Hook's 'Sexy Eyes' and just tell it like 'It Is What It Is' with Rhythim Is Rhythim. we strive hard to play the music for music's sake!
recorded CDs of each week's performances will be available on a subsequent Saturday. as nights progress we will be inviting special guests that we have chosen to come and share their record collections with us and yourselves.
see you again! these are early stages as you know and your support has been well noted. show your faces, move your feet, lift your Voices!

Special Notice
------
Voices will return on Thursdays, beginning with 21st August - still at The Lane - with Ramar at the controls. this party will be a warm up and a good stretch for you as the VOICES::Soundsystem will be hosting the main room Friday 22nd August all night, till 6am or later at the Hoxton Pimps 3 day marathon carnival special, full details to follow...
a special thank-you from DJ ALEX
------
I had to just jump in here and say a big thanks to all who ventured down to my b-day. friends from back in the day and a few just made. the guest DJs did what they are known for - throwing down the music that matters! DJ Noora and her jigga selection of R&B and Hip Hop grooves. Si Parris and Joel Martin with their deep selections I knew I could trust them with. I think what summed up the night was when Simon graced the platter with Tony Allen & Future 2000 - 'Unity'! and the birthday present has been serving it's purpose through this serious weather we have been having, I'm a travellin man...
