nah not surprised since he is one of my TOP 5 best DJs in the world. Excelent DJ and he's got the years and time put into this game to ward off any snickering from the haters.
Not many these days will play some excelent deep tech house to some jazz then Drum n bass.
thanks for the post RF. ;)

He can't surprise me anymore, because I know where Laurent is at, still the best DJ I ever heard, perfeet feeling, timing, blending, selecting and dancing.
For people who know or don't know him well, only last week F Com, his label (together with Eric Morand) released a 5 (five!!!) dj-mix cd-box featuring his favourite mixes, including one incredible oldskool house mix he did at the Sonar festival, check or be checked...

That's a great set, what surprises me is that it looks like the audience is standing still!!!...maybe it's just too dark to tell.
Great post, thanks.

Great post, thanks. it's ALL good graemlins/thumbsup.gif
btw The place was PACKED - SRO (look at about 1:42:00)
I saw garnier play a 6 hour acid house set at a warehouse party over the summer and he completely blew me away...

He is quite good for a big name dj.
Saw him last week and he managed it to drop War "Flying Machine" during a fast-paced Techno set.
I have to admit that this impressed me. As well as his tendency to drop things like Eric Kupper "Latin Blues" and old school Chicago vibes to a straight and uneducated Techno crowd. You just have to like that man.
Peace.

Gerd Yep, you cannot help but admire him as the only big name dj that constantly drops unexpected quality...and it works!
He is a living example of how quality music can be appreciated by a large crowd.
If you watch the video, he is assisted by Bugge Wesseltoft on keys, Norwegian jazz musician you do need to check out if you don't know him. Saw him and Laurent together at the Rex Club, magical stuff!

I skipped through it and really liekd the end with "Acid Eiffel". Bugge Wesseltoft is a well-known name to me, but to be honest, I didn't like his stuff too much.
The last time I have heard Laurent Garnier was back in '94 at Frankfurt's XS Club where he also played on a wednesday night.
Compared to other guys in his league like Sven Väth, Carl Cox or Oakie Donkey, he is soooo much better, cooler and wiser.
If you watch him, you get the impression that he just plays stuff that not onyl the crowd, but he is feeling to.
Peace.

Gerd True, I don't think he plays anything just for the crowd, but the fun thing is that he is a genuine crowd pleaser, much more than the other top dj's you mention.
Yeah, Bugge's productions are rarely my cup of tea, but there is one 12" that is seriously on the Theo Parrish tip called 'Change', worth checking!
