View Full Version : Harry Romero & Robert Owens "I Go Back"
Sensei Melei

This has to be considered for song of the year and it's only April. Harry "Choo Choo" Romero put his big toe into this one. I heard it a couple of times at WMC, but LAWD HAVE MERCY, to have 2 copies and a dance floor to work it with is unbelievable.
I played it The first time at Stevie B's and the crowd liked it. I played it again later in the night and the crowd loved it. I played near the end of the night and the crowd went wild! Some old school Fingers Inc. sounding track matched with Robert Owens vocals, hail.gif
Thanks Harry, you dropped a BOMB with this one!!!

Thanks Harry, you dropped a BOMB with this one!!! So that's what that tune was. I remember hearing a Fingers-style track while you were spinning and kept wondering what it was. Thanks for the heat Greg.

Absolute cheesy crap. I`m suprised any one would even mention this record as there is far better out there. Another fine display of rubbish from a terrible label.

So if Robert Owens sings on a record that rips off "Can You Feel It" it makes it OK?

Just because it has come out on Subliminal don't make it a bad record, which I feel was the case being stated from Craig.

He didn't actually. ;)
I'm not so fussed about records that owe a little, "inspiration". I just wonder what the people who were less than impressed with that remix of "Diamond Life" think of this. Personally, I passed on it. It might have Robert Owens singing and that bass patch, but other than that it's a typical Subliminal kind of thing. Which doesnae float my boat.

I agree with Jonny this to me is just a typical Subliminal release which in my opinion is the usual dross output that you would expect from this poor label.

Played this 3 times at SHELTER(11-3) on sat, and every time it had the crowd going nuts! Andre Collins played this on friday at Donna's Bbirthday and the place erupted! David Mancuso played it last nite at the Loft and the crowd gave it a big applause.
This is good music...this thread proove that you can't please everyone, and that's fine with me.

this is a monster record. any dj that is playing out & refuses to buy this record because they don't "personally" like it is defeating the purpose of being a dj (entertainer) & should look for other work. don't deny the people what they deserve. **** personal opinions. just do your job.
also is it on subliminal or subliminal soul?

It may become a classic... but probably one of those classics most jocks on this board don't like to play (ie "Finally", "When Can Our Love Begin", "Is It All Over My Face, Chez Chez La Femme, etc)

It's just OK to my ears. I'll reserve final judgement until I hear it out in the club.
What i'm waiting on is the release of UMBLU Feat Cassioware "Angel" on Julm Records. This track is just soooooo sick. It's of a similar vein but just blows away I Go Back. IMO

This track sounds too much like the Spen and Karizma Deepah Dub of Jasper St Company's "Smile", but it is dope. We will see 6 months from now how this record stands up.

Sorry Cosmic Twin but I want my DJs to play what they personally believe are the hot tracks - whther they're blindingly popular or completely unknown - and not just be dictated to by what they're told to play. Rock the crowd by all means but do it as an individual please...
For the record, I think its a good record right now and will enjoy playing it at the weekend but its probably one that will date very quickly - see Blaze 'Do You Remember House' last year for evidence of how these overtly 'back in the day' retro tracks sound AWESOME at first then very quickly lose their appeal. That's showbiz!

So many people rave about this tune that I feel like I'm just not getting it or something. Maybe I need to hear it in a good space with lots of people jammin to it, but I have yet to feel like I need to rush out and go get it.
I like Topester's outlook on how DJs should play.

I'd have to hear it in a club setting. Again, this sounds too much like the Deepah dub of "Smile" and they might blend well together. But then again.....

word up topester...!!!!....sometimes the dj's 'professional' attitudes make them seem plain, ordinary and not versatile...not to mention, it strips them of style and decreases their longevity as artists and performers...
Personally, i believe any record that reuses a bassline from another track (esp if that track was famous and a definite classic)...it can't hope or deserve to become a classic....
I havent heard this track on a loud system, but on the stereo it sounds ok...nuthin extra special..

3 considerations on this 1 biggrinangel.gif
1) 4 the record i bought this 1 cause i like it & i dont care who plays it & what affect it does on the floor
2) i rarely buy subliminal lately 95% of their stuff including all sublabels i dont but this has quality all over IMO
3) i want 2 know what would have happened if it was on another label eg. LARGE, GUIDANCE name which ever u want smokin.gif
JUST MY TOUGHTS ON THE MATTER graemlins/acclaim.gif
