my next door neighbor of my childhood home, malcolm chisolm (http://www.howlinwolf.com/articles/m_chisolm/m_chisolm.htm) , was an engineer at chess for really long time. He also was a teacher at columbia college. He's worked for all the chess greats and notable jazz greats: miles davis, mcoy tyner, etc. i used to love talking about music with him. he's an analog purist who laughed at my mpc. unfortunatley he has cancer and might not be around for much long. somewhere around the house i have a disk with his specs for the perfect studio. i'll look for it and post it later.

I had Malcolm as a teacher at Columbia College. He IS/WAS the most interesting teacher I ever had. His answer to digital recording and multitracking was 'bullshit'. He was adamant about too. He loves jazz/blues, usage of very tracks(his theory:keep the signal to noise ratio down), and analog tape. He always made me laugh when it came to anything new. Some teachers did not like his opinions.

He was a cool old cat. Sorry, to hear about the cancer.
