Ok, so when you wear a white skirt or white pants, and you wear white panties, you can see through the skirt.

But when you wear a white skirt or white pants with black panties, you can't.

It's one of these questions that's been bothering me since highschool.

the effect with the black drawz in achieved as a result of the particles of light most visible to the eye creating a graying illusion (black-plus-white) that allows the rods and cones to adjust more readily and the eye to see more of a gradient than a stark contrast.

with white drawz the opposite occurs and the line between flesh and the bright white drawz is more obvious.

i made that shit up. it IS voodoo.

nothing more un-appealing than seeing those over-sized red draws under one of those "crying out for help" white spandex pants on one of our Flatbush Ave. Caribbean oddities.....make you have a new found respect for Fashion Week.

Okay, I am old fashioned but I wear a slip or skirt body shaper because of the panty drama. I may not have the right pair of panties to wear with the see-thru skirt. Besides I got a jiggle, can't afford to wear just panties under my dresses or skirts graemlins/rofl.gif

I was watchin some movie on BET last night with some FOINE sista stealin Jewlery and Clothes or somethin, and she had this skirt on and the thought came to me about 12 years earlier when I got off the school bus and this girl had this white skirt on with black panties that had designs. It wasn't a pretty site because she was lookin kinda Star Jonesish.........

Groove, THX-1138's answer was actually going in the roght direction. The key is to minimize the contrast between your skin color and your underwear. Having dressed dancers I can tell you that the black under white rule doesn't apply universally and for some peach, pink or beige are the magic bullets. That said I am with DiscoLady that a wide variety of foundation garments are wise investments for most women.

I use to be a pageant consultant and trying to get women to understand this theory was so hard - that I told them to just wear pantyhose w/cotton crotch graemlins/scared.gif under their evening gowns and sportwear outfits to avoid the drama! And let's not talk about foundation garments graemlins/puke.gif !
