To put things into perspective, I got a pair of alesis monitor 1's and my beadroom is in an attic. My neighbors, 2 stories below cut my power cause"they can hear it" WTF! It's not like I ever have music on past 9pm, ever. even if the breaker box is in there section of the house, isn't it illegal to shut off my power, I pay for it there for it is mine! same problem albeit a smaller apartment and thin walls - in NYC the law says 70% of your exposed floor has to be carpeted, but after I got that taken care of (yuk!) the biyotch can't say sh&t. On top of that, once she called 9-1-1 and they arrested her for abusing the system! ha!

I had some neighbors who called the cops on me and it was before 10p.m. It was like 8p.m. actually. The cops said I could just be more considerate. So I said that I was within my rights and I think that they should be going to the person's door who complained and tell them to stop wasting their time and stop harrassing me before I filed a formal complaint. The cops smiling at this 5'2" girl who thought she was hot stuff with her small knowledge of the law graemlins/acclaim.gif , went upstairs, told my neighbor something to the effect of either move or shut the f--- up, and I never saw cops at my door again. Do yourself a favor, and go to the city hall in your town and get yourself a copy of renters rights. I personally have a building in Chicago, the rules are no loud music after 10 p.m. Sun.-thurs. and 11p.m. fri& sat. Unless they let me know they are gonna have a small party then I will allow it till 2 a.m. but on the weekends only!!!! my old neighbor used to start banging at 4:30 pm (with the bass at zero and the volume reasonable (for real)). local bylaws say no probs til it's past 11, but she'd keep banging...so i'd oblige and turn off the music.
