When it comes to making sure new House music is cycled I'm behind it 100%. It keeps the scene moving and doesn't condition the club goers to hearing the same songs year after year. But do you ever find yourself trying to be the first to break this new song or that new track no matter what. I've noticed that some dj's will smack you over the head with new music in clubs no matter how wack it is. Like they don't care how fast or how long the floor clear out.
I pose this from the standpoint of someone who loves to dance when I go out to a club. A lounge would be a different story though.
If it's crap, it's crap, regardless if it's new stuff or old. Just play what moves the crowd. F the fact that it's gotta be new.

Being in Houston, TX and i spin House. I can throw on Percualtor and the crowd will be like..."that sounds weird but it's cool! Is it new?"
Crowd here doesn't know what's new or old.

However, in understanding your crowd, you gotta do your best to play whatever it is that's new at the right time, especially if your crowd is not used to hearing new stuff on the regular. On the other hand, every DJ will clear a floor with something that the crowd is not feeling. But you bring them back. That's a chance some of us don't mind taking. Some crowds like that freshness with new music more than others. In my younger years, me and my people used to LOVE that...that wondering 'what's that sh^t' while you're on the floor; but that's a matter of personal taste. You gotta read...then program based on what you've read. Just my http://deephousepage.com/smilies/twocents.gif

I never really think like that, I just play what moves the crowd. Of course it is always great when you know you have the new hot shit, AND the crowd responds to it like you did when you first heard it!
Crowd here doesn't know what's new or old A lot of people just don't know...
