Bad dj's.
Btw, this doesn't apply to most dj's on this board.
I just realized that, at least here in Philly, almost every house dj flat out blows. This includes big names who I am not gonna mention. I go out 4-5 times a week and there is rarely a night where I wanna stick around for longer than 20 minutes--and that's me--a househead. Now imagine regular people who don't care about house--are they supposed to like the crappy music and even crappier delivery?
And whenever we've had the REAL good dj's play here (Paul Johnson, Norm Talley, Charles Webster, Louie Vega, Osunlade), the same people who are normally sipping on martinis, while looking extremely bored, were losing it on the dancefloor!
House music is not dead. There are just too many pretender dj's who are diluting this wonderful music. AR15firing.gif

When I say what you say, in a different manner(most of the djs out there are boring), I get bash by certain segment of this board....I will say it again, most djs are flat out boring....boring to listen to, boring to look at, just f'ing boring....the ironic thing is, the music that's available is not boring, so it can't be blamed on the raw material.

I agree, like I stated before, no matter what you're playing, the priority is to HOLD THE CROWD. I don't understand the logic of Spreading Energy around the room when you're just sitting there waiting for one record to end to cue up another. I want to see DJs that act a fool up in the booth once in a while, and that doesn't mean just tweekin the knobs.
Who's a JAW Dropper up in here?

Without functioning in my personal feelings about myself and others, I think that there are many false-prophets who for various reasons spend time to build up DJs with hype. Newcomers enter the situation with expectations which are rarely met, and truly it isnt about "so and so" cant rock rather more that it should be about letting each new blood make their own decision on what they like. More emphasis on the good time had at the events and let the DJ-lore be written by the patrons.

I totally agree with this as a DJ you are also an entertainer. But one thing that i do, and it works for me, is that I get the hottest joints but play them for a couple of months. Alot of DJs are boring but they don't tend to let stuff play set in the crowd for a few months. People like to sing along or know a rhythm but if your always playin tracks that are new and never let the crowd feel them out over time...you might pass up some possible long term fans.

you are right, but a lot of good dj's were probably boring in an initial stage of their career.. I find myself boring too, but i haven't given up hope yet that one day even Lil Ray will like my mixes.. :D
