I'm off to Rome this week-end, not especially on a quest for italo joints, but if any insider could help me...

Peace

Not sure what your taste is but one party/club to check out would be Goa. It's a seasonal thing, but it should be happening about now. Nice energy, beautiful people. Worth checking out.
As far as "diggin'", not sure. Did not get a chance to shop.

in Rome, definetly hit "Metropol Rock" on Via Cavour...this is a record store where the 12-inch singles are located in the top floor. the funny thing is that they won't let you preview the albums but they will allow you to preview the 12-inch singles before you buy them...

they will try to overcharge you but if you have somebody with you that can speak Italian, you can get a better chance to score a better deal on the records..

also, go for Goody Music on Via Cesare Beccaria 2, which is owned by Claudio Simonetti who was big on the Italo front back in the early 80s with acts such as Vin-Zee, Firefly, Jimmy Ross, and Kano. he also has a web site at www.goodymusic.it (http://www.goodymusic.it)

enjoy and don't leave Rome without a panini sanwich, gelato, and a bottle of "Nostro Azzuro" beer (or lambrusco wine for that matter.) :D

I was in Rome for 2 months last summer, and it was an off-seaaon for clubs. Supposedly Goa is where it's at, but it was closed for the summer when I was there.
Goody Music has some interesting records that you might not find anywhere else, so check it out.

But really, stick to the food and the wine--that's what's best in Rome--(and Fontano de Trevi at night),but you must avoid tourist traps that will serve you Chef Boyeardee-style pasta and overcharge you for it. ;)

Thanx to all of you guys for the info!

I'll try to see what's happening at Goa and will bring my wife to Cesare Becarria to show her a surprise...Goody Music!

I'll try to dig for pasta as well...

You won't have to dig far. I highly recommend Da Lucia (Vicolo del Mattonato 2b 06-580-3601) in Trastevere (my favorite part of Rome). The pasta with pepper and romano (spaghetti alla Gricia) is excellent and the rabbit in Garlic is out of this world.

Enjoy, its a great city for sure.

This will be a well needed break from English "food"!

Thanx!

Hey MarkK!

Thanx for the recommendation: that rabbit was a real treat; didn't eat one for such a long time!

My feet hurt so much after so much deambulation around the city....this is such an open air museum!

Went to Goa on saturday where Devotion was hosting a night: very interesting to see the Italian way of clubbing even though I felt I heard only one track throughout the night....

Thanx a lot Eric for the guest-list!

Peace

Goody is owned by Claudio Donato not Simonetti.
Claudio Donato bought Goody from Change co-owner Petrus in the early eighties.

Simonetti is in Rome though.
