scanning records

Anyone have any advice on how to purchase a scanner large enough to fit a record. I have a digital camera and copy kit but it's a pain in the tuckus to take a picture. I want the ease of simply scanning a record. I've been looking around and have seen nothing larger then a legal size machine. How do some of the major e-commerce site scan 12" covers. Please forward any info....

funny you should ask this question. i've been researching this for a few weeks. option 1: digital camera. option 2: portable scanner. take two scans & then paste the two images together in photoshop. a pro scanner will cost you thousands. if you're going to be doing a lot of scans, a laser printer is the way to go if you don't already have one.

i haven't experimented with a digital camera so i can't say one way or the other if it's more time consuming than option 2. the idea would be to set up an area with proper lighting & without the use of a flash. check ebay & you'll see many digital camera images.
