thanks Can you post a scan of the label, or post an url?

My personal opinion is that you should buy
Danny Krivit's legit re-edit if it does in fact
get pressed and distributed legitimately.
Like Jamie says, it was issued on the vinyl version
of LAST NIGHT A DJ SAVED MY LIFE, the Nuphonic
compilation.

In my personal opinion, you should BOYCOTT
those cheesey pirates that rip-off David Mancuso
and The Loft...the 2 "bootleg" re-edits of
Love Is The Message are manufactured by the same
cat who makes those so-called LOFT CLASSICS and
GARAGE CLASSICS pirate EPs.

Ask David what he thinks about those, or check
out the big thread

With all due respect, John HALL- And I'm calling you and EVERYONE ELSE out on this: How can you say let's boycott (BOYSCOTT) the guy who puts out the boots but SUPPORT DANNY KRIVIT who supplied "the guy" with well over 75 re-edits???

If it's wrong it's wrong on BOTH sides- and I have NEVER heard you or ANYONE get on DANNYs case about it. Either SHARE the blame and tell the TRUTH- lets not play STUPID here. We KNOW the history AND THE PLAYERS (Latin Rascals, Danny K etc.) I mean they put it OUT THERE in that EDITS article orig in BIG DADDY magazine. TRUTH IS IF NOT FOR THE BOOTLEGGER "G" A LOT OF THE SO CALLED HEROES OF THE REMIX AND REEDIT SCENE WOULD NOT HAVE HAD AN OUTLET~!!

pirates of pirates of course, which you want
to avoid especially.
TD sounds like the one I remember...there 2
main different un-licensed Love Is The Message edits, and I believe both of them use elements of
Love Break by Salsoul Orchestra.

DK allegedly did one of those, and someone named
El Cuco did the other.

I haven't heard which DK edit was released legally,
but I urge you to buy that one as DK is doing a
legally cleared, pressed and distributed edit
if it was released by Nuphonic.

I don't play my 12" copy as I paid $300 for it
and I'm waiting to get my hands on an audiophile
TT/Cartridge combo first.
I could be wrong, but iirc, the 12" long mix
IS the album version.
The 12" ALSO has a shorter edit.

The wording of your post here is confusing to me.

Is bootlegging good or bad?
Is the fact that it was allegedly "good" for DK's
career good or bad?

Me, I like DK personally, but I cannot FULLY respect people who do sleezy illegal shit and get famous
for it while us honest folks are struggling to
do the right thing.
DK is a talented DJ and all, but there are plenty
of folks on this board with much more talent who might
NEVER get the same recognition as DK because of
his (allegedly) illegal edits.

To me that just plain sucks.

I have much respect for people who've
EARNED THEIR RESPECT & RECOGNITION BY ETHICAL MEANS.

And I'm not talking about working off the books or
selling weed here,
I'm talking about ripping off the intellectual
property of:
-musicians
-labels
-publishers
-writers
-producers and
-mixers.

I'm not perfect, never claimed to be, but being as ethical as possbile is what I strive for.

And at the end of the day, I can sleep with a good
conscience.

it HURT for me to pay $300 for one record...I've
never even come CLOSE to paying that much any other
time in my entire LIFE!
OUCH!!!

I noticed a copy for $10 on a record site a few
months ago, but when I emailed them (immediately
of course), it was sold out!

Having a second copy would be nice, then I could
sell the copy that's not as pristine.

The 7" I have of OZO is the one with the flute in it. The version on the bootleg is the 12" which is longer than the LP version but doesn't have the flute. I think!

Re-edited boots are part of house history, you can decide for yourself. I know I got all those "Mr. K" edits.

I do think it's crazy to do a bootleg, without the artist's permission, then object when people start bootlegging your bootleg version. You have no ground to stand on whatsoever. I've seen this happen several times here in NY.

Speaking of Danny K, I heard that someone has already bootlegged his version of "Strings Of Life", yet he got local record stores to agree NOT to carry it and wait for the official UK release. How's THAT for clout?

How's THAT for clout? wasn't dk's re-edit of "strings of life" origianlly a bootleg from the 90s? I remember reading that on an earlier thread at B&S by DK... graemlins/conf44.gif

That's cuz all the stores carry his edits, so if
they "cross" him, he's in a position to ask the
manufacturer to stop supplying them to the stores.

Whether or not the "distributor" would back him
up is a different story.
