2003 and we are still getting lynched - hands tied behind back and he "committed suicide"?

I'll wait to hear more on the case before concluding the worst although I don't know how one would tie their own hands behind their back. GQ did an excellent article on the Kokomo, MS case. They just laid out the facts and it sounded like that kid killed himself.

One issue the article inadvertently raised for me is just what exactly is a lynching? The article states that there hasn't been a documented death by lynching in more than 20 years according to the Southern Poverty Law Center and the James Byrd case in Jasper, TX immediately comes to mind. If that's not a lynching then what is?
